I just realised somehting funny about the bat dog (I guess you heard that before, @grickle@mstdn.social):
In German we call (micro) bats Fledermäuse (“flutter mice”). But these are a suborder in the mega bats - or in German: Flughunde (“flight dogs” - very logical: dogs are just huge mice).
So, this bat dog makes perfect sense in German and is nothing to wonder about.
