This happened to my server last winter, got scanned and some random tried to join the server, luckily I had whitelist enabled.
Changed ports from default and haven’t had a problem since.
ddns also works and it’s free
If you can post your conf files for both pcs it would be a good start. (Censor your wan obv)
Did you use a third party service to set up WireGuard like pivpn or tailscale? Can you normally ssh between pc’s while local? Did you enable port forwarding for wireguard traffic on your router?
Thanks for your reply, this was my initial idea but then I thought it’d be a lot less moving parts to ping the router wan itself. However I realize if the router loses power that i.p could very well get served to someone else and then I’d just be pinging them instead lol.
Probably will end up doing this. In this case I would ping the wireguard i.p. of the device from another wireguard enabled device, correct?
Not sure what you mean exactly by tunneling backwards, could you elaborate?
