That was 2018, I think (?). Couple of weeks ago I was on an extended trip to Japan, and my GF convinced me it’d be no problem to go to the hotel Onsen. And indeed, it wasn’t 🤷🏼‍♀️ Still took overcoming a fair bit of panic, but just like back then, there were zero issues.

I recently got a Deuter travel wallet (Deuter is a German Backpack/Hiking equipment manufacturer, and their stuff is usually very well made. I’ve had the same trekking backpack for 10 years now, and the way it’s looking, I’ll have it for another 30 at least).

Tbh the wallet is not very stylish… But it’s very well made, lots of slots for card, cash, and even passport, and if it does get grungy, you can throw it in the washing machine.

I watched him for a while. And I’d say 95% of the tims, it’s fine. Chitchat, banter, technical things. But then the remaining 5% of the time, there’s suddenly a weird off the cuff remark, something that really seems like a dogwhistle, or just otherwise strange turn of phrase that makes me go huh? and rewind.

I’m very happy with a Hetzner auction server. Though I’ve lots of different things running on it, might he overkill for “just” WordPress. They offer cheapish VPSs though. And they’re in Europe and have excellent technical support.

Are you sure you aren’t either applying nixpkgs overlays, or following master instead of nixos-unstable? I’ve not really experienced anything like you’ve described.

Anyways - I’ve additionally built my own cache server, which builds every output of my flake every time I push to main. System updates are ONLY downloads now. Also allowed all of my low-powered VMs to auto-update, since they’ll never need to build anything at all.

They are also machine-washable.

I heard about star citizen when I was a teen, and it looked soooo cool. Unfortunately my PC was not strong enough. So I saved up for months to buy a PC specifically to play Star Citizen. Finally, I had all the upgrades I needed for the PC. Started excitedly pouring over Roberts Space Industries to pick my ship. Noticed the pricing model was… Off. In fact, this felt like a scam. Hold on, there’s no real game I could actually play? Decided to hold off until something released I could play, ideally with friends, and ideally via a less obfuscated pricing model.

Anyways, I’ve checked in with SC about once a year since. I’m about to begin the process to finance a house with my girlfriend of 9 years. Exciting times ahead.

I’m pretty sire SC won’t have released anything close to what was promised in 2012 by the time I retire, MUCH less anything promised since.

(Btw I was not a smart teen. I fell for lots of things and lost money to scams and stupid games. I got lucky with SC, because in an alternate universe, I might also be stuck in sunk cost fallacy.)

We already do exactly that for plastic bottles in Germany. You pay 5-30ct premium on each bottle and get that back when disposing of the bottles in the sorting machine. Participation is close to 100%.

For glass, it at least gets sorted into white/green/brown glass to make recycling easier (not in the supermarket though, just containers positioned in residential streets / recycling centers).

Wait wat. Then how am I supposed to express exactly that? I only realized I was trans close to graduating high school. All my close friends up to that point had been male. Male gender stereotypes influenced what I did in my free time, how I behaved in class, how I saw the world.

It took effort to shed some of that. Maybe it’s because I haven’t heard it used in a transphobic context yet, but “I was male socialized” is, I’d have said up to this post at least, very apt.
