What are you talking about, Windows 8 was a complete shitshow. It wasn’t until 8.1 that it became respectable.

I personally think this is a cop out. Obviously people would have been outraged either way, but personally my only issue is about how it was done. The whole point of the FOSS community is openness and transparency. The senior maintainers of arguably the most important FOSS project trying to operate secretively on something like this has shattered my trust in them, as well as many others.

You know that Russia wasn’t able to compete in the Olympics or Paralympics this year, right? The individual athletes weren’t banned however, but they had to compete under a neutral banner and weren’t in the parade of nations.

Reminds me of a comment the other day on a post about Ventoy. Whatever the situation there is, which definitely needs clarification still, the person was saying that you shouldn’t trust it at all because the maintainer is Chinese, even though he has emigrated away. You’re absolutely correct there. My issue is that I feel like so many of us are almost giving in to the desires of those that spread misinformation, and becoming completely cynical towards anything that’s shared online. A healthy amount of skepticism is required. Asking yourself “what does this person gain here if they’re lying” and if that answer is “some notes on tumblr” then I’d personally rather choose to believe them. To instead get to have the positive feelings that post provides. Rather than dwell on it and believe that all of humanity are dishonest and disingenuous.

That’s just my two cents.

3. the author’s age is unknown
4. i’d rather choose to take people at face value until given a reason otherwise
