Honestly, Animal Crossing in the game too.
I grew up in rural Alberta and now live in one of the big cities. I like it a lot. There are so many different people here from all walks of life. Lots on Ontario and BC transplants too!
It’s getting more expensive, but I’m glad we could still afford a home here. But industry keeps growing here, so we will see how long it lasts.
People complain about the traffic but I think most commutes top out at 1 hour here. Compared to what I’ve heard in Toronto, where many people travel 1–2 hours each way.
Weather is good - very sunny, we have seasons, warm winds break up the cold winters.
I think the politics aren’t unusual - the cities are quite liberal and the countryside is very conservative. Seems to be the same in other provinces imo.
Just like in any place - it’s mostly normal people living their lives.
I switched from Android to iPhone mainly for the iMessage capabilities. I didn’t have any other reason at the time, but now I’ve started adding in to the ecosystem (AirPods, and now an iPad). The integration is really nice and smooth. I do like how “user-friendly” it is - while I can use other platforms just fine, iOS is just simple and easy.
I didn’t, really. Just kind of ended up here and it’s not bad.
Bean counter.
Same here - I hope more female-oriented communities get going. WitchesVsPatriarchy, TrollXChromosomes, and all the chaos of the Netflix Cinematic Universe reality shows were a blast on Reddit.
I have found !witchymemes@lemmy.world so far!
At the moment, it seems to be, “I can’t poop for 3 days.”
Great point that shareholders ruin everything. I invest but I’ll avoid certain companies or industries that don’t align with my values, even if those stocks have the most potential profitability. But this seems to be a very uncommon habit in the investing world.
Either cats or a vibrator.
Humans going extinct would probably be the most beneficial.
Canadian in a major city - yes, safe to drink right from the tap.
However, many remote communities here do not have access to safe drinking water.
I had actually thought about signing up for the basic plan because it is just me who likes it, but I was put off by the low quality.
Well - I guess now I’ll be officially sticking to Plex.
Pickles and bacon!
I’ve seen this with my Zoomer sister-in-law. She just recently learned how to use Microsoft - their home and school system was entirely Apple. She’s still not great at troubleshooting.
I used Apollo for over 5 years. Before that, I had an Android, so I used Baconreader and later Relay. Before THAT, I used Alien Blue.
Ever since the blackout, I have only visited Reddit once. Definitely making Lemmy my primary forum nowadays.
Corporate taxes - at least in Canada, you can have a year end any day of the year.
And yes, some older tax preparers don’t work in summer/fall.
