Like any word it’s used derogatorily by people who are themselves derogatory about everything.

The word itself isn’t derogatory, it just means foot-traveller. We don’t really have a similar term for vehicle or bicycle travel but that’s only because when it was created there was only pedestrian (foot-traveller) and equestrian (horse-travel).

Furthermore, the actual definitions of those words don’t denote the type of travel but rather anything that relates to that type of travel. So you can have pedestrian crossings, equestrian centres etc.

Right? It’s like when people get angry at the police for not trying to stop crime, they should be directing their anger at the criminals.

If Palestinian action wanted to make a difference they’d target the Israeli embassy but they didn’t, because they’re not protestors they’re saboteurs.

People like that are in a constant battle to prove how exceptional they are while being completely unexceptional. They have no real success stories so they have to create some by painting this image in their heads that they are naturally superior to everyone else. Every one of them have Dunning-Kreuger syndrome.

I’d say emotional intelligence is understanding why you feel a certain way and not allowing the automatic reaction to those feelings to be the default reaction.

Like if something makes you angry, instead of going crazy, you take a deep breath and address it calmly. It’s primarily emotional regulation.
