Putin is having some money troubles of his own right now. Banks in China are refusing to complete bank transactions with russia.
It’s ugly af. Was that a project requirement or something? It looks like it has a fucking underbite lol.
It is, but its pure function over form. If you want the whole story on this here’s a well done 13 minute youtube video: USPS Oshkosh NGDV Postal Van - Ugly by Design
Short version for the ugly:
Its ugly, but is a very VERY functional design. I’d rather mail carriers are comfortable in their ride than feeling stylish.
The rate isn’t too bad actually, but when your household is a larger consumer anyway and you’re charging 2 EVs consumption gets up there. We have also switched to an induction stove, heat pump water heater, added a heat pump dryer, and just recently had our gas furnace ripped out and a cold climate heat pump put in for the HVAC.
With all of that the electricity usage the bill goes up, but we can wipe it out with solar and now we don’t have natural gas bills or gasoline costs for transportation. The up front costs can be high with this approach, but the monthly bills are nearly non-existent.
The rate around here is now down to $0.22/kWh. We were occasionally getting electricity bills around $400/month at worst, but we haven’t had an electrical bill since April of this year with our solar panels on the roof now.

Yep, for decades. They used to be much larger consuming the space of a large table. Now they are small units like this:
Just search for “surface mount rework” or the nickname “hot air pencil”.
Yo! We heard you like drones, so here’s one drone being blown up by another drone while both are watched by a third drone.
Legally they cannot. Also, domestic violence happens to men too.
I’d like to know how close I was and in what ways I can become a more interesting candidate, but nobody is going to give me a realistic answer.
I can tell you from the employer side there is nothing to gain by answering this question asked by a candidate, and everything to lose which is why you the candidate almost never hear a response.
There are some legally protected reasons you cannot be turned down for a job. Its all the stuff you’d think of: race, religion, marital status, sex, age, etc. The likelihood you were turned down because of one of these illegal reasons is usually very low in the USA. I’m proud to say for the hiring efforts I’ve been a part of, these have never been considered criteria for disqualifying a candidate. Its always been for things like lack of knowledge/education, criminal history (example multi-DUI for a job that requires driving or conviction of embezzling when put in charge of company finances ), etc.
However, any documented reason a prospective employer gives back to a candidate becomes a liability. Will that candidate sue the company claiming that they weren’t hired because they think the position required some not married, which would be a crime of the employer?
I take it you’ve never seen what kind of damage and desecration a cat can do to a couch?
Don’t ask him about the fate of his first love. Its still a tenders spot. No amount of upholstery will remove that damage.
Immortality
Immortality seems like a good idea, but there’s going to be a LONG time from when the last living thing dies out to the heat death of the universe where you’ll finally join non-existance. EONs of nothing to do likely floating in a vacuum or being trapped on all sides by rock/debris. No thanks.
In today’s news of “Every accusation the GOP makes is an admission of guilt”:
GOP accuses immigrants of eating pets, while today the GOP began eating its own pet, Laura Loomer.
I always thought the “fix” to a traditional soldiering iron was a hot air pencil.
We got lucky, if big daddy z took that ride the west would be in a bad place right now.
I’m not so sure. Taking Crimea, but leaving the rest of Ukraine a sovereign state broke the pattern of historical European prelude to war.
Putin, by stopping at Crimea, made this look like a localized dispute between two sovereign nations, not the conquest of the entire nation, with more to follow. Had Putin taken all of Ukraine in 2014, that would look very much like a Napoleon or Hitler seeking European domination. The world would have responded very differently I think.
Vyacheslav Volodin, the chairman of the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, and a close ally of President Vladimir Putin, said Moscow would be forced to use “more powerful and destructive weapons” against Ukraine if Kyiv started firing long-range Western missiles at Russia.
Hey Vyacheslav, what weapons besides nuclear (and maybe biological) weapons does russia have that it hasn’t used against Ukraine already? Do you think if you use a nuclear weapon against Ukraine that that ends the war? Do you think the rest of the world will just say “welp, I guess russia used a nuke, better let them have Ukraine now”. Not even close.
He’s still in a fairly advantageous position militarily right.
For now yes, but he was in a much MUCH better position before he invaded Ukraine.
All of those are gone now for russia.
With russia abandoning its ally Armenia in a military time of need against Azerbaijan, it suggests russia is not capable of fighting wars on two fronts. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to hear that Georgia marching forces to take back South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
But it never was actually about that, now was it?
No it wasn’t. I think Putin started with Crimea because he was afraid of losing Russia’s best warm water port after Euromaidan kicked the russian puppet out of Ukraine and Ukraine indicating it would not renew the russian lease of Sevastopol. When that was stunningly successful for russia to take Crimea, and the world mostly allowed it, he thought there were no limits on him taking Ukraine bit by bit. Luhansk and Donetsk invasion was to secure the petroleum and gas reserves found in Eastern Ukraine and prevent Ukraine from threatening Russia’s only real economy power: fossil fuel energy deliveries to Europe and Asian. Again the world didn’t really step in or sanction Putin very much, and he thought Kyiv and the rest of Ukraine would be an easy win.
The question I have is - how to get India off of the Russian oil supply?
That wouldn’t be good for the world economy. All of India’s consumption would have to come from the world’s supply driving up prices noticeably across the globe (and possibly hurting the efforts in Ukraine because of the association of high oil prices).
The better question is “How do we get India to pay even less for russian oil?”
The offered contract also notably includes “a commitment to build Boeing’s next new airplane in the Puget Sound region,” Boeing said
A social media post 40 years from now:
“TIL Back in 2032 Boeing temporarily went into business building tiny single engine 4 person private jet, but only sold one before shutting down the production line to check a box on an agreed union labor contract.”
Embarrassment suggests he has a sense of shame. He has already conducted a number of shameful acts already (taking gifts) without any sense he’s embarrassed.
