Its great having both. EV’s are so great for daily driving, no ICE car can match the smoothness and simplicity of driving an EV. I bought a PHEV with limited range recently and I’m really regretting not waiting a little longer and just buying an EV, the EV mode is so good.
In order to have a single motor AWD EV you would need a transfer case and drive shaft between the axels. this would all take up space, space which is mainly used to house the battery. It’s probably more expensive to have two motors than to try and design a single motor AWD system for an EV, and it really doesn’t make any sense.
Can’t be that big of a draw back to not have a nose, eggs are pretty aerodynamic no? Regardless I’m sure well reach a point where range doesn’t matter anymore, I would argue it already doesn’t but everyone thinks they need 300+miles to be able to get to work every day lol.

Whether or not they succeed this is where EVs are headed. Without the need for a front end anymore this look will become the standard in the future. Personally I think it’s awesome, I want something that can haul a lot of stuff that isn’t too big to fit anywhere.
Is it just turning on, on its own or is it when you press the gas? I know in mine even if the battery is charged you can only press the gas a little before the engine kicks on. Can’t think of any other reason why it would do that.
