  • I don’t how to feel about this. It feels like half inspiration, half indoctrination. “sure, everything sucks, but just pretend it doesn’t!! the cute woman will smile at u and u will leave the store together!!!”

The message about empathy is important. I don’t think I could ever be “well-adjusted” to modern hell though, and I’m not convinced it’s really something to aspire to anyway.

The video equates discontent with self centeredness and lack of empathy. But I’m not angry with the person driving in front of me, I’m angry with politicians and automakers who scarred our land with highways and parking lots, and prioritized cars over humans. I’m not angry with the people around me at the supermarket, I’m angry at the megacorporations that damage the planet and exploit people while filling up the shelves with a million “different” products that are all overpriced and somehow even smaller than they were last year.

The video may be well meaning, but I think it misses the mark, and works to reinforce the status quo.

  • It’s not like the bladder is radiating heat away when it’s inside the body. Heat doesn’t just get used up, it has to go somewhere. If it was in equilibrium it would just increase your thermal mass and have no effect.

Like I said though, I think the issue is that it’s constantly moving heat away from the core to the lower abdomen where it can be radiated or conducted away.

  • Well it starts at body temperature, and if it stays in thermal equilibrium, then it doesn’t require energy to maintain. It wouldn’t make a difference, you’d be losing the same amount of heat energy either way.

Based on what others have said, I think the answer is that it isn’t really in equilibrium. If the bladder is in contact with tissues that are warmer on one side than the other, then it will basically act as a thermal conductor to move heat away from your core.

  • I read the first article, and I recommended you do as well, as it’s the best take I have seen on image generation.

It sounds like you and your friend both have your minds made up already, but reality is more nuanced, and the truth is somewhere inbetween.

“AI art” isn’t copyright infringement, or “stealing”, but it’s also not art. It’s a neutral technology.

I agree it is being used unethically (and overused) by corporations, but it’s fundamentally a problem with how our society uses and reacts to it. Like so many other new technologies, the true issue is with capitalism, not the tech itself.

  • I 100% agree. I don’t mind design refreshes. I think I’m in the minority of loving the current Firefox logo.

But this just sucks. They really took their unique, clever wordmark logo (but still very modern and minimal!) and replaced it with a bland, trendy 2022 typeface.

I know this is super petty, but this might convince me to find another password manager and method for syncing tabs. Might try librewolf, too. Rebranding invites users to re-evaluate their view on a brand, and mine isn’t changing for the better.
