You still need to send the firearm to a Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealer - one of those brick and mortar stores they mentioned, then you fill out the 4473 form, the dealer takes that then calls for a National Instant Criminal System (NICS) check which you can pass, fail, or get a delay while they look deeper. If you pass, you pay your transfer fee and go on your way.

Most modern pistols don’t need to be “cocked.” Guy probably carries with one in the chamber (as one should) which then only requires a trigger pull to discharge. Guy is just a moron. If the gun isn’t on you, it should be in the safe. Especially if you have children in the house.
