AAA gaming is a hot mess right now.

Swappa has better prices for used phones.
The 6 and 6 Pro won’t receive major updates anymore. Dropping $340-540 on a phone that’ll only receive security updates for more years is crazy.
You can get a 512 GB 7 Pro for $400 brand new on Woot.
If it were the 8 series that would be more enticing. At least those come with 7 years of OS updates.
8·7 days agoCurrent: Pixel 6a. Probably the best out of all the phones I’ve owned. Wish the battery life was a little bit longer.
I do have a soft spot for my first ever smartphone, the Nexus 4. I adored it.

It won’t fix the issue of comments being everywhere though. Take this post I made on !bitwarden@lemmy.ml. The same link has been crossposted to 7 other communities with many more comments. I wonder if in the future it’ll be possible to combine comments from various posts about a single link into a megapost of some sort.
- Seal: Allows me to download YouTube videos, Instagram reels, etc. It’s a simple and pretty front end for yt-dlp.
- Fossify Calendar: Finally kicked Google Calendar to the curb. No fuss calendar app.
- AVNC: Allows me to remotely control my laptop from my phone. Requires installation of VNC software on the laptop (I’m using TightVNC).
- Binary Eye: Barcode/QR code scanner with history.
- Loop Habit Tracker: Helps me keep track of habits – eg. going to the gym X times a week.
- Island: Allows me to create a clone of app. Useful for apps that don’t support multi-accounts.
- Simple Time Tracker: I use it to keep track of how long I spend playing a game, since I like documenting the info for HowLongToBeat.com
Other than these, K9 Mail and NewPipe.

1·17 days agoCost related reasons. Similar thing happened with the PS5 revisions.
Started Hellblade II during the weekend. Visually it’s the most impressive game I’ve played so far.
What I struggle with is keeping up with the story and all of the runestones and dialogue and everything. I enjoyed Hellblade I but had to go through the plot on Wikipedia after completing the game to understand what I had just played.
Third one’s stated for release next year.

Its draws for me were:
- Portability: Carry it wherever you want. Game on the couch or on the go.
- Price: Starts at 400 USD.
- Performance: It has decent performance.
- Ease of use: It’s plug and play like a console. Don’t have to mess around with settings if you don’t want to.
- Dockable: Use any USB C dock to connect it to your monitor/TV and play games on a larger screen.
- Linux PC: Switch to Desktop Mode and it’s now a regular computer.
- Not restricted to Steam: If you have a game library on other service such as GOG or Epic, you can use a third-party launcher like Heroic.
- Repairability: Valve’s been good about providing spare parts. You can upgrade storage on your own.
- Comes with a nice carry case.
Drawbacks that I found:
- Certain games aren’t supported on Linux - especially many multiplayer games with anti-cheat.
- It’s heavy: My fingers fatigue far quicker as compared to a Nintendo Switch. Haven’t tried other handhelds so I can’t provide a comparison with them.
I was pleasantly surprised by Teardown’s campaign. Didn’t expect it to be that good. Completed the story in the base game and had a lot of fun.
Ran well on the Steam Deck.
The article undersells the amount that’s been leaked. Taking a look at the X/Twitter account the article linked to, there are beta sprites of gen 3/4/5 Pokemon being shared. Allegedly the source code for Black 2/White 2 is out there as well.
Sarah Bond said “…starting in November, players will be able to play and purchase Xbox games directly from the Xbox App on Android.”
Not sure how the play aspect works.
No mention of Qi2. Any reason why we aren’t seeing more adoption of it?
