Don’t apologize! I’d like to help out and keep this community going so I’m happy to do this. But I think I’ll hold off until Tuesday to post. So basically just skip this week and start it up again next week. Did you have any albums in mind for the next one? If not I’ll pick something that is “essential alternative”
Oh I didn’t hear about that. Hopefully he’s okay
This is really cool. Thanks for sharing. It looks like this is from their 2023 album Noisserped. I’ll be giving that a listen soon
Singer-songwriter Sufjan is my favorite Sufjan
This whole album is really cool. Vocals remind me a bit of IDLES
Hey ren@lemmy.world are we doing an album club post this week? You do a lot for this community so I wouldn’t mind taking this over moving forward if you’d like. I’d hate to see it die already
I know a lot of people find this song annoying but I like it. Glad you like it too!
I really like clipping.'s There Existed an Addiction to Blood (2019) or Visions of Bodies Being Burned (2020). They definitely fit the horror theme however both include elements of noise and industrial music and they can be more challenging listens at times.
Before giving this a listen the only song I had heard from Naughty by Nature was O.P.P. I’m really glad I gave this a listen. This is right up my alley when it comes to old school hip hop. I love the constant onslaught of rhymes over the old school funky beats.
A lot of good songs here but I’ll highlight City of Ci-Lo and Klickow-Klickow specifically for the beats. Both have a more dissonant sound which I really like.
I wasn’t a fan of a few of the cheesier choruses. Especially Slang Bang. That one got a little annoying. But I get that their just trying to grab people’s attention with some of those.
Shout Out felt like it didn’t belong but I appreciate what they were trying to do there. I can’t complain too much about it since they still put out nearly an hour of rapping if you skip that one.
Overall a great album and I plan to check out more of their work now.
I’m lucky enough to do most of my music listening while working. Hooray for work from home desk jobs!
bar italia sneaking in at number 40! I didn’t realize they had a new song out. I highly recommend their album Tracey Denim released earlier this year.
Sounds interesting! I will definitely check this out this week
It feels like a big day with both Animal Collective and Wilco releasing new albums!
By the way I saw you made threads for those two. I was up earlier today and made thread for those ones already.
I definitely think it could’ve been longer. Not by adding more songs or more verses. But by having some longer instrumental sections, intros, and outros. Stuff that lets the song breathe for a bit. Some of the songs just felt a little cut short.
Asked whether artist revenue shares, user experience, or the editorial platform Bandcamp Daily will be affected by the acquisition, Songtradr declined to comment.
Maybe I’m being too cynical but this doesn’t sound great
This is my first time experiencing this album and maybe the first time hearing ASAP Rocky. So my first impression is that it’s great production with okay rapping.
I see the appeal of ASAP Rocky’s bravado and confidence but it doesn’t really do anything for me. It’s good in small doses but not as a whole album.
I love the production. Question for the hiphopheads. Is this considered Chopped and Screwed? with the slowed down beats and slowed down vocal parts? It just makes for a really cool vibe.
I especially love the Clams Casino beats. A couple of my favorite tracks were Bass and Sandman which honestly sound similar on the back end but I knew I liked Clams Casino before going into this so I wasnt surprised to like a few of those tracks.
I also like Trilla. I think maybe because it wasn’t all Rocky and has a couple other ASAPs rapping on it. It was a nice change of pace from a rapping standpoint.
I already knew that this was not a style of hip-hop that I enjoy. So I went into this with low expectations and I think I can say my expectations were met lol.
It felt like Bodak Yellow was supposed to be one of the highlights of the album and I can see the appeal there but that one is not for me.
Two songs that I kind of liked were Be Careful and I Like It. Be Careful was a nice change of pace from the rest of the album and it had an interesting beat. And I Like It was just too much fun with the booming bass over the “I like it like that” sample.
Other than those two tracks and a few absurd lines from Cardi that made me crack a smile there wasn’t much else I liked from this album.
