Yeah it’s been like this on the E210 generation up by the map lights as you can see. It’s one of those buttons that clicks in or out. When in(the position you see here), interior lights one on with doors, when out they don’t.

I believe this is the case as well but I just wanted to add, if you don’t have something plastic that is stiff enough, please disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes before using a flathead screwdriver to get it out.
I’ve had it a couple times suggest a route that avoids large highways and interstates which is what this looks like. A lot of people just don’t like or can’t use the high speed highways. And if you’re not in a hurry, often those are much better for just a chill road trip.
