That’s not a secret. MKBHD and Linus were calling this shit out. I remember Linus running some monitoring apps on a intel macbook and watching the CPU throttle when it hit the pathetic thermal limit.
Those people have tens of millions of followers.
I felt this way when I first became a sysadmin because I thought I had to learn everything to do my job. As time went by I realized it’s impossible to know everything and my job is to be an expert at the specific technology required by my company. Eventually I had touched / modified / configured every piece of technology in our stack and I did have the sense that I knew what I was doing and was the master of my environment. It was a really good feeling.
Then I became IT Director and now I have to listen to managers cry about using the help desk.
There will be an infinite number of 3rd parties making leather bands and I will get one of those. Apple’s facade of “caring about the environment” is hilarious though. That mother earth video is cringe as fuck. How does Apple feel about all their customers who buy a new phone EVERY YEAR? Is that good for the environment? It’s certainly good for Apple’s stock price.
EDIT: THEY PLANTED SOME TREES IN SOUTH AMERICA. It offsets pollution and makes up for exploiting workers in asia. Everything is great!
You explained the science. When I exhale CO2 I’m not polluting. I’ll die if I don’t breath. Pollution is when we create unnecessary waste.
how is breathing CO2 pollution
Same way that eating animals for B12 is “unethical”.
Spoiler: things you need to be alive are not pollution or unethical.
I thought lemmings hate cars and hate lawns? This should be utopia!
Nah. There are “liberals” who view their authoritarianism as justified and they are serious. They are not republicans who are trolling. Just look at what is happening in New Mexico today. Democratic governor banned all guns, in violation of the constitution.
Your average game devs still have little idea how to get the best performance from the hardware, and hardware vendors are still patching things under the hood so they don’t look bad on benchmarks.
Yes they do. We know they do because current gen consoles are frequently providing better fidelity and better stability than PC games. Not because PCs have inferior hardware. But because optimization is actually incredibly hard when your custom base is all running different hardware AND different drivers. So even when the hardware is “the same”, it’s not.
This has been true forever. It just took 30 years for high performance computing to be affordable enough to put in consoles. 30 years was a long time for PC gamers to feel superior. Now they enjoy humble pie and make comments like this on the internet to explain why things are so “bad”.
PC games are still great. Don’t let this bother you more than it should.
Why do you people insist on this conspiracy theory where you blame the person because you think they are lying? Fuck off. Google’s algorithm is malicious.
“how would I do something that is impossible because I think I’m making a clever point”
use a different protocol
What’s the alternative to putting them on the pUbLic InTeRnEt? I pay my ISP $2000 per month for my own private commercial circuit? It’s not a bad idea because there is no reasonable alternative. Risk mitigation is the key, as you seem to be aware.
Language is important. Some people need to be reminded that people like Desantis are authoritarian. Or at least they need to be reminded that we know he is and it’s not OK. You can’t support an authoritarian and democracy at the same time. By pointing out that Desantis is authoritarian, you are also pointing out his followers hate America. They claim to love America. This disconnect is the point.

Because people think they are entitled to live wherever they want and expect society to fix whatever issues might prevent that, on their behalf, for free.
feel like everyone in the working classes blue and white are being squeezed
America is not homogeneous. I live in a low cost of living area and make 100k. I have very few real issues. I can easily afford my home. It’s not that everyone has it bad, it’s that most people want to live in the same handful of areas and there is not enough housing in those areas to meet the demand. So the price goes up. Many people are choosing to be squeezed and they do not like this being pointed out.
That statement is based on a false premise. It’s a logical fallacy.
