Congratulations on becoming an admin, and thanks for stepping up and helping to keep the instance running smoothly!
As someone who doesn’t know too much about US politics, and haven’t delved deep in the issue, it seems that the main issue is about “jury nullification for crimes that haven’t happened yet”, which LW considers “advocation to violence”. Is that correct?
If yes, and you are looking for complete free speech, that can include things that can advocate violence (at least for some people), what would remain the difference between this and other instances like hexbear etc?
Well, I am not a writer, but from what I have read, there are all kind of writers. Some take ton of time and have the whole book (or series) ready before writing a single word, while others plan as they write. They all go through revisions though, and everyone say a good editor is really important.
As for writing long form, I recall reading someone’s opinion that you should start with short stories, instead of writing full length novel or long series from the get go. This was more about when you are honing your skill, instead of your first published work, from what I recall, but that is one person’s opinion in some specific context (that I don’t completely recall) so take it for it’s worth.
It doesn’t seem to have very good ratings… how are you liking it?
@neatchee has explained the issue. Every community has certain rules, and if you break them they will remove your post (or ban you), and if you re-post that again, that just makes you look like a troll / troublemaker. And “everyone is doing it” doesn’t make a good defense.
Now, if your main concern is how to get sound effects for your video, you can just link to the video and ask simple questions, like:
Main reason (or at least one of them) is the technology stack, choosing Java instead of Rust, to move fast with development, and (hopefully) to be more accessible for others to contribute.
Yeah… I wasn’t expecting it to cost so much. It’s near the price of the hosting of all the services combined.
Loooong weekend!
Ahan, that’s good.
I have a couple of things that have been on pause and I have been meaning to get back to them. Maybe this can be one way to make myself accountable.
What is everyone holding themselves accountable for?
All of it? 😮
Well, I guess The Dresden Files can be considered like that. The series is pretty easy to read, without using much brain power, but they are still lots of fun.
There are many crime series like that too. But I have only heard about them, haven’t read them personally.
Also, if you don’t mind progression fantasy, there are tons of web novels that fit the bill.
Yeah, completely agreed.
Classics and non-fiction has same description. 😀
It’s most from recommendations. From a friend, or online (previously reddit, now lemmy). Historically, my way to choose a book, is if I like something from a author, just start going through their full bibliography. So, a single recommendation of a new author can last me a long time.
These days, I am getting recommendations from our weekly “What are you reading” threads over at !books@lemmy.world. So many books are mentioned each week, my books wishlist has already grown quite a lot from it.
Yeah, for instance, when I start a new day, I do the following:
On normal day, this hardly takes 30 seconds (other than writing down what’s moving to today). With this workflow, it’s easy to mark anything on monthly calendar. As I am looking at it daily anyway. That being said, I am not actually using any habit tracker right now. I have become a perfect being and don’t need to create any more habits. 😃
Yeah, there was a video by someone, who has apparently made some documentaries, that gave bullet journal a try for 30 days. He over-complicated it by not following the basics but going for stylish spreads he watched on YouTube, and this exhausted him, instead of making things easier. For instance, it took him 4 hours to set up first month, and then 2 hours to set up seconds one. He eventually realised this is too much, and gave up.
And yeah, I love how simple it is. It doesn’t matter if you miss a day, a week, or a month, just turn to next empty page, and start writing.
Heh, this is exactly how it is.
I agree with Ricardo, on both points, but if it works for you, it doesn’t matter what you call it.
As for digital vs analogue, it doesn’t matter too much. I think bullet journal works better with pen and paper, but I know people who use digital ones, and it works for them, so more power to them.
You can check the official How to Bullet Journal video (also linked in side-bar), to get the idea of basics of Bullet Journal. You don’t have to do everything. Personally, I consider daily log to be the central pillar of bullet journal, around which the whole system is built, but others may have a different opinion about this.
You should!
