If I was a dev the question would have to be changed to: “You’ve just won a competition and now a couple of mid-tier game developers have to listen to your game idea, because no other devs would take part. For me it would be a dungeon crawler in the style of Monomyth but with AAA graphics. Also, it would start with a massive intro sequence, like in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, when you’ve been playing for ages and then realise the game hasn’t really even started yet. It would also have really emotionally engaging writing and cut scenes like in Eriksholm: The StolenDream.

The most important ingredient though, and I can’t stress this enough, because so many games get this wrong in my opinion, is a world that doesn’t appear to give a damn that I’m in it or need me to do anything. Monomyth nails this as does, I think, GTA5. Everyone’s just living their lives and you are one tiny part of it, nothing more. I really hate games that feel like the Truman Show. I want to be able to hide in the world, to be unnoticed. Thief by Eidos gets this right too.

Also I want my dungeons to hint at light above through maybe cracks way up high in the rocks, like the caves and temples of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Finally I want the player to be able to choose whatever play style they want, without shaming them for making it easy or glorifying them for making it as hard as possible. I don’t like games that tell me how to have fun and if a player finds a completely unexpected way to achieve something good. No sudden patch to nerf it. Just leave it.

No doubt some schools minister will come out and say that “school is so important and missing even one day can damage a child’s future irreparably”. They did it with Covid and they’ll do it again and it has nothing to do with the children. They just don’t want parents to have to miss work because they’re looking after their kids. Well it isn’t to “Shill for data centers” but I suspect you knew that already. Honestly, nobody is reading this anymore unless it’s their job, so this is just a conversation between us. I get fed up with these echo chambers. They’re so pointless since everyone already agrees with each other and sensible people just stay away anyway, but it’s still annoying that so few people challenge these talking points. “Data center bad”, “Won’t someone think of the water?!”, “AI is secretly a plan to enslave us all” etc.

My intent was to challenge these things and see who would respond genuinely and who would just stick to the script. It’s been quite interesting. Also, honestly it felt good not to be intimidated or spun out in a thread full of sarcasm, ridicule, ad hominem attacks etc.

As for the downvotes, oh well… Most of the rest of my time here is generally positive. Sometimes though it feels good to stand up and say what I think, even if it costs some fake internet points lol

So, this looks like “Something awful, that I don’t need, is increasing my energy prices”. A more accurate version would probably look like “Something really useful that I use all the time is increasing my energy prices”.

So basically, I think what they are saying (in an incredibly dense way that makes it feel like nonsense) is that while early AI hardware tried to copy the workers in the brain, this research is asking whether we should also copy the managers, cleaners, electricians and logistics team (astrocytes) that quietly keep everything running. Also, TIL that “Chitosan” is a natural material made from the shells of shrimp, crabs and other crustaceans. Chemically modifying it (quaternizing it) makes it conduct ions better apparently.

TL;DR: This is (I think) about trying to develop neuromorphic computing. It’s based on the idea that if we can make AI chips behave more like brains they will use a lot less power because our brains run on about 20 Watts.

There are so many free apps out there that will give you an endless list of cheats. There’s even a free app that will let you hack the games yourself. I’m surprised you’ve not heard of any of these.

Absolutely! and the even worse part is that you can go for years not even thinking about the person that wronged you. Then one day something reminds you of them and the ADHD brain will speed load everything they did to you in a second. When that turns you into a rage filled, barely coherent, crashing out, panicking mad person everyone around you is like “woah there… what’s wrong with you?! You’re acting really crazy right now… Yikes”. That’s a really lonely feeling. The only person who doesn’t do that is my wife because she knows what’s happening and is really good at talking me down from the ledge.
