I live in a hot, humid environment. Keeping bread in the fridge helps it to stay good for multiple weeks. If I leave it out, it molds way quicker. I also sometimes will store bread in the freezer to keep it fresh even longer if I know I’m just going to make toast out of it.

Generally I do agree with that statement. But I think this can be taken in a lighthearted manner. Not every joke needs to be so PC to the point where you’re afraid to say anything and all humor is lost. Humor is subjective tho so I think it’s fair to not like the joke.

  • It is incredibly odd…isn’t it? So many words saying very little.

To OP, I think it would help others to give you advice if you say exactly what sort of plans you had that didn’t work out. Plans not working out come in all shapes and sizes, and advice for one thing doesn’t necessarily apply to another.

If it’s a relationship you seem to desire, then asking for more relationship focused advice may be more fruitful than vaguebooking and not getting much in the way of useful responses.

  • And then you have some ridiculous retailers that don’t allow you to hold a package for pickup anymore. What the hell happened to that? I feel like it used to be when I had a package that needed a signature I could just request for it to be held at the parcel service center for me to pick it up later.

But the last two times I had a package with a signature required, it wouldn’t allow me to do that. The package was going to be returned to the sender for ridiculous reasons. One was an age restricted item which I can kind of get, but the other wasn’t. Both times I had to beg and plead with the delivery company to hold the parcel even though it was not something they were supposed to do.

And people wonder why Amazon gets so much business. They don’t make me take days off from work so I can hopefully receive a fucking package of the delivery person actually feels like ringing my doorbell.

Never again with packages requiring a signature for me. I don’t work from home and my workplace is not in a location that can receive packages.

  • Yeah, I’m with you on that. Everyone on Lemmy loves password managers, but I don’t really like the idea of entrusting all of my passwords for everything with one singular program. I actually also dislike 2 factor authentication. One time my phone broke and my bank wanted to verify my identity to purchase a new phone. Except my phone was broken so I couldn’t… Yeah I really don’t want to run into that scenario again except worse.

I’ve actually gone old school with it and I keep most passwords physically written down in a notebook using my own cypher language/pictograms. If someone irl really wants to break into my home, find the notebook, and try to decode it, I’d be in bigger trouble to begin with. It’s very unlikely.

  • I think it’s highly depend not on how cold the climate is. Do you know the specific location? I see you’ve listed a few.

Anecdotally, I grew up in a suburban area southern Michigan where the winters could get brutally cold and there is a lot of lake effect snow. But I never needed to use an engine block heater or special tires. Read wheel drive vehicles were ill advised for winter months though from what people had told me living there. I had a small FWD crossover SUV for the bulk of my time living there and it was fine. If you have to drive in snow and icy conditions, go very very slow and bear in mind that you cannot stop, accelerate, or turn quickly at all.

The most essential think I needed was an ice scraper and remembering to warm up the car first.

Obviously ymmv depending on how cold your location is and whether or not you’re living out in a rural area. Also where I lived was likely a tad less cold than Denver. But cars were generally still able to start at -5F for reference.

  • Seriously, I found out that my bank chain switched their opening hours to being 10a-4p and most branches are closed on the weekends. It’s not even 40 hours of opening time for the week!

What the fuck kind of a schedule is this? Granted, I’ve hardly ever needed to go to a branch in person because the majority of things can be done online or at an atm, but still. Some things you do occasionally need to visit in person for…like getting a cashier’s check which I had to do recently.

Thankfully the last time I needed one, I was able to drive far away to a location that was open for a couple of hours on Saturday but Jesus Christ.

Yeah it’s just odd…compared to someone like you or me (presumably anyway…I suppose you could be a master breakdance but I’m working with odds here lol), she’s really good. But compared to advanced level break dancers, she’s clearly an amateur. A lot of it is just confusing…it’s like she didn’t realize she was supposed to be doing tricks in her performance. And the few she tried to execute had somewhat poor technique and didn’t land well.

The commentators at one point say that Raygun likes to use improvisation. I’m wondering if she didn’t realize she was supposed to actually have a clean routine. It’s like she thought they were just there to vibe.

Thanks so much for this! Glad to have finally seen it!

You know…the thing is that without context it’s really not the worst thing in the world. She clearly has more breakdancing ability and knowledge than the average person on the steet.

But it’s certainly odd…it’s like she didn’t get the memo that she was supposed to be doing tricks in her routine, and the few she attempted had poor technique and were not executed very well. It’s like someone pitted some random kid from the high school track team against Usain Bolt. It’s like…ok…compared to the general population who isn’t trained in track and field, the high schooler has some knowledge and ability. But compared to an Olympian? Why are they even up there?

Except my comparison in this scenario is a bit ironic considering all the kids wiped the floor with her.

All in all a confusing as hell scenario.

My job involves organs and sometimes I take photos for various reasons, often to demonstrate something to a physician or to cover my ass (identifying patient info is removed from the photo…not a HIPAA violation). Sometimes my phone likes to show these as memories lol.
