  • The problem is that interest rates on used cars are typically even worse, resulting in higher payments. Typically used car rates at my credit union right now are 11%. A new car is around 6%. A $50,000 car at 6% for 60 months is going to be a lower payment than a $30,000 car at 11% for 36 months which is typically the longest that they will let a used car loan term be now. This is even worse if you’re even considering the current used car market prices. To get a gently used car, you are paying almost new prices on it.

  • Just so you know, the car still collects your data and sends it into toyota. The only way to opt out of it is to turn off the data connection module entirely, which means you lose Sirius xm, any navigation you had, and you would lose the key fob remote start because the vehicle can no longer connect to toyota. The key fob remote start is hidden behind a service called service connect, that you got a 3-year free trial for when you purchased your vehicle. Some Vehicles got a 10-year trial of it, like both of mine, after I complained to my state attorney general. Anything newer than 2023 comes with a one or three-year trial of the service connect, and after that unless you pay a subscription, your key fob remote start doesn’t work. Toyota Never walked this back, they just let the public backlash blow over.

  • It depends on a few things. First and foremost, remote starting from your mobile device requires a subscription. Your vehicle should come with a 3-month trial, and after that you will have to pay either $80 a year, or $8 per month. The key fob will work, and the key fob remote start will work for either one year or 3 years depending on what audio system you have. After that, you will need a subscription for any remote services at all, including the key fob based remote start which is built into your vehicle.

  • im not on 10gb(or your ISP, im in the USA), but I have tested it LAN to WAN with a firewall, and was able to get just over 8gbps sustained on an e3-1220, I have since upgraded to an e3-1270v2 and have never tested it since, but I would assume its a bit faster due to higher clock speeds.

The cons is the space that required, but I can move it on the garage/basement.

Its a 1U rackmount server, so having a vertical wall/rack mount system like this is what I have given as an option before. Keeps it flat against the wall, so minimal space needed, really.

Do you know the power consumption?

mine idles right around 20w to 25w with the 10gb card in it, and on a 1gb transfer it still sits just above that idle number at around 35w. It will sit idle most of the time. I have never seen it hit more than 50w on anything, and that was likely because the fans had ramped up. noise is an issue with these, they aren’t quiet unless you keep the room cold, so if you can put it somewhere where you don’t have to sit next to it, or within a few meters of it, you should be fine.

  • Don’t know how expensive power or used servers are in Italy, but I personally run a Dell R210ii server that I bought used with a dual port 10gb NIC. In testing, I was able to get around 8gbps with no tuning on PFsense. There are no consumer or prosumer routers that can actually hand 10gb NAT/firewall without stepping into really expensive commercial stuff that just isn’t worth it for the home.

  • Because it’s odometer fraud, it would be the FBI that you’d be contacting. But very likely the RAV4 is stolen, and that is a washed title. I would check the VIN in the door jamb to make sure that it matches the VIN in the windshield, but also there’s a VIN on the frame, underneath the vehicle on the driver’s side. I would also check to make sure that matches the title you’ve gotten.
