Honestly, my favorite purchase of the past years is the Steamdeck. Can take it to work, play in my lunch break. Can take it on trips, play in the plane or train. Also got a dock at home, where I play coop games with my kid. So I guess if you are a gamer not playing any not supported games (there aren’t that many), go for it.

Genuinely only used this to redeem games on GOG whenever I had a free Prime subscription.
Otherwise this is as expected though. A subscription service (unless you could use it without prime?) only selling licenses to game use, not the actual games.

I’ve been reading across her catalogue, interspersed with books from Isaac Asimov. I like both but the style is so different and Le Guin is just amazing at the cultural world building parts. Her books on the Ekumen and all the challenges at contacting a different culture, aside from language, are a fantastic read.
I actually got bored at the later Foundation books from Asimov where the main characters are so above everyone else in their abilities, its almost like a teenager wrote it. The first ones are really great though, up to the Gaia revelation.

Is it a fair comparison when VGA plugs came with screws pretty much by default? I think I have seen HDMI cables like that too, but if so then it is a much rarer find.
That’s a completely different type of platform. I’ve tried Twitter/Mastodon so many times over the years and the format just doesn’t work for me. Feels like yelling into the void and in order for anyone to interact with you, you first need to build an audience somehow.
I don’t know this game but have been emulating Mario Kart 8 Deluxe via Ryujinx on my Steam Deck for quite some time now, including all available DLCs and updates.
There’s a menu somewhere where you point Ryujinx to the folder that contains the DLC, it should immediately recgonize them. Easy to spot if it is an update because it will change the version number in your list of available games.
I think this is great, even if Nintendo invents some proprietary way to charge the fuck out of it. Step in the right direction.
Howeverrrr… for something like the Switch(2) I see access to games a more long term issue. Switch 1 had physical cards to put in, but even then you got updates of course online. Switch 2 seems to try and get users to download complete games.
Are these servers still running in 10 years or longer. Otherwise renewing the battery on your old Switch 2 may not even be useful if there is no way to play the games anymore.
