The i8 designer has said that was intentional. Still looks terrible.

I have three cars of similar vintage: 04 Audi TT, 05 Boxster, 06 Saab 9-5 wagon. The Boxster has the fewest miles on it and feels basically like new. I’ve had the Saab wagon for years and it creaks like a wood floor. I didn’t realize how much it did until I got the TT a few months ago, and it doesn’t creak or rattle despite similar age and miles.

I listen to my music loud af. I guess I just never realized how much the Saab creaked because of my listening habits.
