19·1 year agoTwitter, Reddit, Meta, YouTube, et al. - these platforms have one singular goal, and that is to serve you ads and generate income off of your harvested personal data. If there exists a conspiracy, its goal is to remove all barriers to that end.
1·1 year agoProton all the way. E-mail, calendar, contacts, Proton Drive, and VPN if you want it. You can use a custom domain for your e-mail address, as well. Photos are another story, though.
1·1 year agoIn the big picture, I would say FOSS has a moral aspect to it within society. I would not say the same about an individual trying to decide between an Android or Apple device, or using Linux vs MacOS on a personal computer.
