Me for Bill Gates and Mark Cuban, back when everyone loved them. Bill Gates was basically idolized on reddit, partaking on reddit santa and all that.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Gays, what's your opinion on straight women going to gay bars?
3·2 months agoI don’t care, as long as they don’t bring their BS with them and try to hit on gay men. I am thinking of the typical “instagram women”.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Oxford English Dictionary for KOReader? Does anyone have it?English
1·4 months agoHey there again! I tried the PT-PT dictionary and in terms of content, it is awesome. The formatting is a bit weird though. There is no formatting, everything is in the same phrase, different definitions in the same phrase gets annoying.
Is there a way to style it? For example, a word “XYZ: 1 bla bla 2 bla2 bla2” would look much better like so:
"XYZ:
- bla bla
- bla2 bla "
Is this something that can be done on my end? I use KOReader.

World News@lemmy.ml•The children murdered by the Epstein coalition in Iran so far
114·4 months agoAmericans are such a passive people. Their state can commit the worst atrocities, no peep from them. If this was any EU country, heads would be flying.
EDIT: After writing this, I thought and I disagree with my own statement. People suck. All people, generally. Some are a bit more passive than others, but generally, humanity sucks, people suck. We value comfort way too much and are not up to give up 0.1% of it, even in the face of atrocities. Principled people are very rare.

Meta (slrpnk.net)@slrpnk.net•SLRPNK Community Discussion - March 2026English
7·4 months agoI find that “money” and “cash” should be the same community, if any. I just don’t see enough content for each of them separately. I don’t even see enough content overall. This splitting of communities into 100s different ones is, to me, the death by a thousand cuts.
I don’t like how he seems to quote (positively) Noam Chosmky so much. By the end of the article, it ceases to be fact-based and becomes more opinionated.
He makes a few points that I disagree with, namely: “the whole educational and professional training system is a very elaborate filter, which just weeds out people who are too independent and who think for themselves and who don’t know how to be submissive and so on - because they’re dysfunctional to the institutions” (This is from a Chomsky’s book). I 100% disagree with this. I just don’t see people creating an educational system that filters out good thinkers and smart people. If it does, it is surely failing. (I am in Europe). Ask any teacher what sort of training they received to filter out those people. They will tell you none. Ask any teacher what is the reason that one fails in the educational system. Not one teacher will tell you “oh, that person is too smart, too independent, for our current educational system. He needs to be dumber if he wishes to pass.”. Come on…
I wish he would have kept the document fact based. This is surely an attacking point that may be used to detract the rest of it.
Where are the guides on how to facilitate mass migration? Where are the guides for agriculture in the absence of international supply lines and fertilizer? Where are the checklists of supplies for individuals, small communities, and large communities?
I don’t know? Where are they? Post them. Create them.
If all you have to say of the 57 pages of the document is “the title is wrong”: Thank you for your contribution.
Most of it are graphs. I don’t think it takes that long to read. But even if it does, it should be read. Read it over a week, or two, or however long. Instead of doomscrolling, doomread. At least you are not giving money to pedophiles by reading this.
Do you think a hand coffee grinder (I would buy the kingrinder k6, as I want cheap) is a “buy for life” product? I never had one in my hand, but I would think that anything that “grinds” probably gets blunt in a few years, no?

XMPP@slrpnk.net•The Movim XMPP client is soon getting Discord-like rooms & spaces (preview in post body)
3·5 months agoI tried movim for like 2 minutes. It was too much. It felt more like a full social network (chat+mastodon in one?) than just a chat software. I didn’t like that. Too convoluted and complex. And the UI/UX was confusing.
I really want XMPP to do well though.

Climate@slrpnk.net•Environmental protest group Extinction Rebellion says FBI is investigating it for terrorism15·5 months agoGreta is honestly one of my heroes. The amount of hate that she got growing up, from right wing pedophiles(-protectors) is astonishing. And she persevered! All she did was point to the climate science. She tried to improve the world for both everyone alive and those yet to come. And she got hate for it.
Whenever a person tells me that they don’t like Greta, I know that I won’t like that person.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•"i am shocked at how many people don't have an actively hostile relationship with advertising"
1·5 months agoAnother word for “marketing” or “advertisement” is Manipulation. Shady, manipulative, tactics.
Fuck them. I love Lemmy because it seems like the ratio of like-minded people is much larger here. Nothing better than seeing other principled people that would rather give up some comforts than deal with ads and bend the knee to the pieces of shit that try to push them.
Even products in the supermarket (such as bread!!) come with ads in the fucking plastic wrapper. I have changed my bread brand due to this. I will absolutely give up any comfort to avoid your manipulation. I will fucking shower in cold water if it means I don’t bend the knee to pieces of shit.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•With the recent "spotify hack", can one now easily get songs from that hack?English
122·5 months agoYa, I plan to do it that way. But spotify quality is enough for me, and if one could get songs easily by just searching/downloading from that hack, it would make my life much easier. I suppose the spotify hack also has more songs than soulseek.

They keep making right wing mistakes though. I think that points to something.
