Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•At what point does a person become an "adult"?English
31·1 day agoIt’s the moment you figure out your parents didn’t have it figured out and were just making it up as they went along.
True adulthood starts when you forgive them for the mistakes they made and try and do better.

Technology@beehaw.org•User anger as Amazon ends support for some older KindlesEnglish
15·10 days agoThe great thing about that is nothing is stopping you from running an older LTS kernel and even after that updating and backporting changes yourself. I have no problem with companies stopping support for things at some point the economics don’t make sense. I do have a problem with not letting the Community take up support after the company is done with it.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why hasn't Euro become the default global reserve currency yet?English
12·21 days agoIt takes a very long time for something like that to switch. The US took more than a century to integrate themselves into whole world. Every McDonald’s or KFC is an extension of that control and thus the USD as the default reserve currency. All that has to close down first. That is going to take a long time even with the Stupidest President throwing US soft power down the toilet.
