They/Them
Lemmy’s two main developers are communists so it’s a “platform built by Communists” just like @Cowbee@lemmy.ml said.
Spaces have nothing to do with Discord. They’re just a way of grouping multiple Matrix rooms together into one “space” like how Discord channels are grouped into one “server.”
Yoshi’s Island!
It’s an unofficial open-source daemon used by alternative Spotify clients. I used it once for a terminal Spotify client. It’s a pretty neat piece of software.
KDE Connect mounts your phone as a network folder in Dolphin. You could copy multiple files and paste them into a folder in your phone through Dolpin as a workaround.
The best information I can find on getting Guix on the Raspberry Pi is the issues page for nonguix https://gitlab.com/nonguix/nonguix/-/issues/128
Take a look at this Guix blog post. https://guix.gnu.org/en/blog/2022/keeping-ones-home-tidy/
There’s this children’s show called Jakers which features a subplot about a sheep (voiced by Mel Brooks apparently) that basically tries to convince the other sheep to not be sheep just like in this strip.
Night of the Consumers has a premise that is sort of close to what you’re imagining.
You didn’t need to switch. You could’ve followed the same communities on lemmy.ml straight from your Beehaw account. It’s one of the benefits of federation.
Yeah live reload is a Lemmy feature, specifically a part of the Websockets API. That API is being deprecated so live reload will go away soon.
MLM in this case refers to Marxism-Leninism-Maoism or Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought, not Multi-Level Marketing.
The new app bundles format is a worrying trend! If it’s truly exclusive to the Play Store and can’t be brought to Aurora Store or the Android package installer somehow and APKs start to fizzle out, users of degoogled Android ROMs are going to suffer. If some big name apps are only available as AABs then tough luck.
You kid, but there are probably “smart bathtubs” and “smart showers” out there that do run some old ass Linux kernel. The days of flushing a toilet while someone is showering are long gone. Now all you gotta do is hack into their showers and prank them from afar.
Hey, I’ve been meaning to ask you this, but you’re both deaf and blind? And that’s interesting that Windows doesnt’t have good interfaces, since I always heard Windows is better in that department compared to Linux.
And developed by people who hate the fact that you’re alive!
A comment about Lemmy I saw on Reddit. The slur filter really pulls its weight and keeps the bigots out, it was a great idea.
Are you expecting a community about China to be dedicated to shit-talking China or something? This isn’t Reddit. People sent you some great links in the comments of that last post. I suggest you unlearn everything you think you know about China, read the links, and learn about China from a non-Western perspective.
AnySoft is pretty great! I especially like that it has the ability to swype. It may not be the best but it’s the only open source keyboard I know that has that capability.
Congratulations on this milestone! Lemmy’s only getting better and better.
Would something like Steel work?
The Helix editor is working on adding it as a plugin scripting language. You could take a look at the in-progress fork to see how they’re doing it.
