No, it was that post, it’s just that you’re not seeing 80+% of the comments on it on your instance

That post has 13 comments on your intance and 89 on mine. lemmy.world doesn’t federate with a few large instances like hexbear.net and lemmygrad.ml, and there are some very enthusiastic users on those ones that will take sides with anyone that’s anti-USA
This has literally nothing to do with women’s rights
this is exactly the point I’m making
You responded to criticism of the state of women’s rights under Taliban governance with criticism of America, you absolutely said something exactly that simplistic. If the post was saying that America and/or its allies should re-invade or otherwise try to overthrow the Taliban, sure, you might have a point, but it isn’t
You don’t have to think America is doing things right to think the Taliban are doing them wrong
The original being “This film is dedicated to the gallant people of Afghanistan.” See, for example, this review from 1988
I honestly can’t think of a way to rephrase “we invented international football” to fit the “no skins” original, so this acknowledgement of the reference will have to do instead
They are. The post could swap one of them out for Re or Rø instead and it would work, though
Rankine isn’t pointing a gun at Kelvin because of this, but Kelvin is pointing one at Rankine because Rankine is an abomination that should not be
The UK doesn’t compete in international football, the constituent countries of it do. Although of them, only England is even occasionally able to challenge Germany
Even the actual literal Nazis got things right once. They armed Ethiopia against Italy’s invasion. They did it for shitty reasons, but I’m still in favour of sending guns away from Nazis and to the people fighting against being colonised. If Hitler himself can end up on the right side of history on the odd occasion, so can Cheney.
Exercise Formosa
Well this certainly wasn’t the “Chinese troops in Taiwan” headline that I worried I might read. Apparently there’s a Formosa in Brazil and it’s not just the old name for Taiwan
Islands have been done separately from the mainland when they’re part of the same country on this map. Look at Canada, where Vancouver Island and Newfoundland end up far away from the rest of Canada
Is it a worse look than what Tyson did to any of his real opponents because of the history of male violence against women, or is there something else you’re getting at? And is whether or not it looks good what should be the driving force being decision making in sports?
Combat sports already have weight classes, it’s not like you’d be putting a man up against a woman he has 30 cm and 50 kg over. If you’ve got people of similar size and ability, it doesn’t seem to me like their sex or gender matters. They all went in there expecting to both hit and get hit.
Could be that those under him don’t trust him any more, and even if he hasn’t actually done anything that justified removing him he’s having a negative effect on the morale of those working for him
It’s useless, yes, but your body didn’t evolve to account for pouring a bunch of heated water over yourself
I’m pretty sure he would have, although I can’t imagine that he would have been going there to “retire” Sapper in the first place. While his actions at the end of the film weren’t against his old duties for the police, he seemed all in for the replicant cause by the end of the film. The thing Sapper said about “because you’ve never seen a miracle” turned out to be spot on
Can’t blame her honestly, if I lived in a world where nobody even recognised the smell of garlic I’d be blown away by a good cake
Ahh yeah, sorry about that
