  • For general 2d development, Godot is much better than unity already. It doesn’t have everything that unity does but what it has is much more efficient and easy to understand.

Though the opposite is true for 3d.

In short: Unity is a 3d tool where you can pretend one of the dimensions doesn’t exist to make 2d games (but it’s still running a 3d environment behind the curtains, you’re just not seeing one of them), while godot is a 2d tool that gives you an optional third dimension for some stuff.

  • I use edge on linux every now and then. I keep two browsers to separate work and personal stuff and I use edge as my secondary browser (for personal stuff on the work OS, for work stuff on the personal OS). My main browser is Vivaldi.

My reasoning is that it has very good tab management features and I’d still rather use a Microsoft browser than an Opera browser. With just those two requirements there’s not much else to use out there.

  • Nothing is actually going on with typescript. This guy who’s a big name in programming for creating a lot of good things and having a lot of shitty opinions just removed typescript from one of their projects and some folks are desperate to make that be a big news.

They removed typescript because they saw no benefit in using it. Then a lot of folks who can’t deal with typescript got excited because “hey someone is trashing that thing I hate”.

  • Issues with attention are one of the smallest problems of adhd. It’s only named after that because that’s what parents and teachers notice on kids and get annoyed by. The same way as you get to be labeled a “high functioning” autistic if you learn how to not annoy others with your problems.

The world disappearing when you’re doing something you care about feels very adhd tbh. The underlying issue with adhd is that our brain often fails to get positive feedback from doing small things like completing tasks, then over time the brain starts resenting having to do these things because there’s no reward, and it tries to force you into looking for something more rewarding to do. When It does find something rewarding to focus on, it latches into it and doesn’t let go.

Me, personally, I feel like I have two moods only: distracted and annoyed. If my focus is on something rewarding I’m distracted by it and think about nothing else. I forget about troubles and tasks and responsibilities. I feel rested and happy. When that’s not the case, I get so annoyed that just existing feels painful.
