Let me guess… it’s going to rely on the tags system. And another guess… they aren’t going to do anything to stop devs and consumers putting tags I like on shovelware that I would never buy in a million years.

It’s so janky… I’m sick of getting shot through walls and doors. But it’s also pretty fun and it’s interesting to see a different an alternative take on the half-like formula before from Half Life took a wrecking ball to the boomer shooters design philosophy.

I’m on a roguelike buzz again.
Played a bit of Rangedrifter. It’s maybe got the best atmosphere of any roguelike I’ve ever played, but it’s pretty early in development so not enough content to be satisfying yet.
Now I’m onto Lost Flame which is kind of like a roguelike demake of Dark Souls… the combat is amazing and I can’t stop playing even though it’s kicking my arse. So far I’ve had the most success with dex/spear builds but I’m starting to get into scroll and potion shenanigans and it’s kind of blowing my mind trying to comprehend the possibilities!

Live and drink!

I want Monster Hunter 5. I miss planning and hunting and side activities.

Yeah it isn’t even a JRPG… not sure what they were thinking.
I grabbed VII remake in the sale so I will give it a go soon but my expectations are now pretty low. Maybe my nostalgia for the music will carry me through.

Trying to force my way through the last few quests of Final Fantasy XVI. This has been my first FF since the PS2 era and wow… what a let down. It stinks of design by committee. I also started Final Fantasy IX again the other day to see if I’m just being an out of touch old person and no… that game is absolutely magical. Modern FF really is that bad.

Spotify is such a shit company. I used to get paid (peanuts) on my artist account but they raised the threshold for getting payouts so now I get nothing.

VLC is where it’s at.

Cairn, but I have mixed feelings about it. There are occasional moments of joy when the climbing system works and looks like real climbing but it seems that most of my time is spent fighting the jank and getting frustrated that this “pro” climber can’t use the most basic climbing techniques.
Also, the performance on steamdeck is abysmal.
Damn, hope your health improves soon! These posts are still the best thing on Lemmy!
I would like them to separate genre out of the tag system and curate the list of genres themselves, create strict guidelines for devs to select genres for their games, and let customers discover games via genre instead of tags. IMO the tag system is the worst thing they’ve ever added to the store.
