Monkey’s paw curls. Raw chicken is now more expensive than cooked chicken; The price of cooked chicken remains the same.

Anarchists are left. Anything to the left of capitalism is left. Anarchists want to get rid of capitalism.

61·15 days agoPeople can make racist jokes. But the punchline has to be more than just “haha racism”. If only racists are laughing at your joke, it’s not a funny joke, you’re just being racist.

5·16 days agoIf there’s a genuinely good product that’s popular because it’s good. There’s no need to step in and give shittier products more share in the market.
The point in breaking up monopolies is to be more fair for consumers. If you want to say they’re technically a monopoly because they have a large share of the market then fine. But I don’t see that as a bad thing until it starts abusing its power.

“Steam is so popular because they’re good not because they’re a monopoly”
“Oh yeah? Well what if Steam was a monopoly? They would be a monopoly then right!”

281·16 days agoIt’s weird because normally having a monopoly is really bad but all the competition pales in comparison to Steam and they actually provide a good platform. Maybe after Gaben dies Steam will go to shit but for now they’re not just the best but also doing way more than just being a place to buy games.

World News@lemmy.world•China bans influencers from speaking on ‘serious’ topics like finance or health without university degreeEnglish
1·17 days agoIf you’re legally required to have a degree or whatever related to the topic then all you have to do is require social media sites integrate some sort of display that shows the users qualification that they can submit to these sites if they want to use their platform to discuss such topics. Then when you see someone making consistent claims without displaying their credentials you have the evidence right there to deplatform them.

1·18 days agoI can literally go and do this right now I wouldn’t need authority.
But with an actual dedicated team they could collect this evidence and present it to a court for this issue.

“People hated living under communism just ask them”
Actually you’ll find most people preferred living under communism
“They’re just blinded by nostalgia”
So you can’t just ask people about what it was like under communism?
“No you can, if you did you’d find they all hated it”
