Hey fun tip. For just a few pennies more per TB, Best Buy has a WD 18TB drive for $199. If you need a bit more storage and desk space is limited, this might be another option to consider.
Emporia too. That’s the way I went. The Emporia Vue home energy monitoring system is very cool. 5% off black friday. Meh. It’s already pretty cheap.

For me, I bought it for the environmental benefits. I know it sounds corny but I did it for my (at the time) unborn grandkid. I did solar at the same time. I have a lifetime of karmic debt to repay. Every year I have dumped about 4.6 metric tons of CO2 into the air from my former ICE car and about 7.5 metric tons each year from the house.
Now that I have the EV, huge unexpected benefit was… it’s freekin FUN to drive! It’s so convenient to have home charging. Even road trips have been easy. Honestly I can’t believe I could both help clean up the environment and improve my life so much. It feels like I’m cheating. Shouldn’t repaying my debt to future society be painful? At least a bit?
Long answer: Yes.

That’s the product but I’ve gone into the store and had them do some looking. Can not confirm this $149 deal for Phoenix area anyway. If you see it for that price, snag it! Grab 2.
If the Big 3 can’t compete with Tesla (in EV) how are they going to take on BYD? Good thing BYD isn’t moving into North America. Yet.
Too bad there isn’t an “everything in moderation” council. Because some meat and dairy is perfectly fine. A bit of unrefined sugar… no problem. But a diet of mainly fats and refined sugars… not so good.
- Big Tobacco was looking at a report from the Surgeon General says cigarettes cause cancer. Weirdly, articles started turning up saying 9 out 10 doctors recommend menthol brand cigarettes to sooth your throat. A zillion other ads and articles promoting cigarettes, blaming various chemicals for cancer and lots and lots and lots of garbage. Big Tobacco has been found guilty many times in court but they are still trying to get new smokers by targeting kids with fruit and candy flavored vape products. Money makes people do evil things.
Today we are seeing warnings that Big Oil is literally killing the entire Biosphere. It’s big tobacco all over again. But unlike tobacco, we are all breathing in the smoke and we can’t quit. Worse, the industry makes 4 trillion dollars a year. That makes Tobacco look like a kids lemon-aid stand. They aren’t just going to close up shop and go away.
If you weren’t seeing FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) articles I’d be really worried. It would mean Big Oil didn’t see a threat. But they ARE worried. And rightly so. Every EV driver is a customer lost for life. Same as when somebody quits smoking.
You know the truth. Don’t fall for the lies.
In Arizona I charge during the Ultra-Off Peak rate. Winter weekday days from 10am to 3pm of $0.031/kWh. I keep hearing about an EV tariff. I think you shift your ultra off-peak to night time but it may require a special meter and/or charger that hooks up to the internet. I’ve got to look into it more.
