An hour old post about Windows on the Fediverse and no one has said use Linux?

Use Linux.

Almost everything on my store page is AAA or liveservice trash.

Very little on my Steam page is. This is just one data point but still it suggests their suggestion algorithm somewhat works for this.

Just an observation on that specific thing not a disagreement with the problem. Live service is trash and needs to go away if it’s not an exclusively multiplayer game.

I’m just throwing shade for fun.

Feels like the right choice for a shitposting community!

I’ve never had any trouble running adobe software on Linux.

I’ve also never tried, but still the statement is technically correct.

I feel like most everyone* who cares about distros likes Debian. It may not be the right distro for your use case, but you’re glad it’s around.

* I’m sure even Debian has it’s haters. But I think it’s a minority.

Found it mentioned as an alternative when Reddit announced their API changes.

My guess is we’re still too small and niche to be a tempting target.

I think the federated nature of lemmy will make it an easy target when it does come along though.

Some suggestions for solid state alternatives as old mechanical magnetic storage has such a high failure rate. But retro whatever way you want, of course!

You can get ide to compact flash or ide to sata adapters and get some reasonably modern solid state hard drive storage in there, if that interests you. I understand (haven’t tried personally) that compatibility can be kind of a crapshoot though.

You can also get a gotek which has a floppy interface and can load floppy images from a USB thumbdrive. Which might be a more functional option than getting a USB floppy drive for a modern machine.

I found it quite satisfying! I was curious how that part of the plot was going to play out while the the bit with the other antagonist was wrapping up. I think they did a great job delivering the sense of two combatants pushing themselves to and beyond their limits (I feel like by the time someone is at a point where they know who I’m referring to, they’ll know something like that is going to happen so doesn’t feel like a spoiler). And it was a fun fight besides.

I’m curious to see what they do in Dawntrail. There was definitely a strong sense of them trying to wrap everything up.

I’m not planning on running any of the new jobs through that expansion, no. I’m running PLD and SCH right now and splitting that quest xp. And enjoying both so I’ll stick with that for the time being!

I’m not familiar with the brand, but general ideas that come to mind to troubleshoot are:

• Disable secureboot if enabled. Understanding you’ll lose that security feature of course.
• See if there’s an option to mark your storage as removable in the installer (–removable flag in grub iirc). My (pretty old) motherboard does not seem to respect attempts to add uefi entities but it happily boots off a “removable” uefi install.
