It’s heavy but I still miss when greentext got honest like this. I feel like there’s very few places left where people are “anonymous” and express their deepest thoughts.
Whether true or not, thank you for sharing op. I hope you got some help.
I don’t like that comment by op. This structure is pretty standard and I think it’s clear that if the manager was the problem that the options to discuss with higher ups or 3rd party HR are also there. Their comment that 3rd party HR is there to protect the company is also only a half-truth as letting these issues run rampant is a huge liability to the company itself (as we’re seeing right now). HR would not doing its job properly by pushing issues like these under the rug.
Even worse, saying that HR always takes the side of the employer is a meme that discourages employees in bad situations from pursuing their very real options. This perception could have continued to her situation. If HR doesn’t do their job, you can always escalate further.
I think the point is that the fear of not being able to get it out easily would lead your jaw muscles to clench up. So somebody would have to basically trick you into thinking that the imitation is real.
This is a critical piece of the puzzle and I love that you pointed it out. Bare necessities aside (shelter, food, etc), we start out with a set of win conditions (from parents, friends, etc), but ultimately we can determine them ourselves. In most democracies, nobody can tell you how to live your life.
Why single out Bernie Sanders then? Aren’t there a million people that have access to even more “luxurious” things that a majority can’t afford?
What’s so special about him?
Yup, I’ve tested windows->steam deck so far. No reason to believe it won’t work the other way around (paths seem to be compatible at least).

The 100$ is very much a premium tier with nice to have features. The ad free version is around 20$, which is still steep but you’re paying for lifetime ads.
I mean, seeing as this is not yet a reality… Have you looked into lucid dreaming?
It’s a dystopian extension of what it could be if society continued on a bad path. In truth I’d absolutely hope that there would be better options at that point, because society is better. Right now, drugs are simpler and maybe even saner than engaging with reality fully.
Well, in a world that has technology this advanced, you could maybe make your body do actual work in the real world (controlled by your employer) but you would still experience the virtual world as op has explained.
Sounds like a black mirror outline. I shiver at the idea.
Negatives: real world stagnation.
But maybe that’s a positive actually.
I can see the line of reasoning and honestly I would probably be an early adopter.
I’ve had a weird system-wide stutter for months and the usual googling and troubleshooting didn’t help… omg. This might be it. Thank you Linus and thank you op.
