I think most of these people don’t know wtf they are talking about lol most people here don’t own M cars / only read the HoRrOr stories about them. 😂 which is hilarious in its own way.
Personally, I’d check the carfax on it and go from there. The S85 was a lot more reliable than its counterpart the S65. But it’s all about how you treat it. If you are serious about trying to buy it, I would talk with owner about getting the oil tested & go from there.
I got an e90 M3 with 60k miles on it like 6 years ago. Everyone thought I was dumb af for it. Most expensive thing replaced on her so face was throttle actuators which I did myself.
ALSO see if they didn’t rod bearings & main bearings. Main bearings are more an S65 thing but it’s an added plus if they did it while they were in for rod bearings.
If that’s not done then I would steer clear friend. They degrade over time and will make you throw a rod if neglected.
Hope this helps :) don’t listen to the BS on the internet from people who just read articles instead of work hard to be able to drive the car 🤷🏽♂️ my $0.02.
Maintenance isn’t as bad as it’s cracked up to be, but when she breaks be ready to spend some cash 😎 just remember, this isn’t a regular BMW. It’s not just a 3/4,5,6 or 7 series. This is an M car derived from the race cars used during that era.
Do you even read? lol
