Main issue is companies really do not want to become banks because it opens a ton of new regulations on them. That’s why square fought so hard for an industrial bank charter which allows them to skirt oversight

The legacy automakers are afraid to make the type of investments and sacrifices needed to exist in the future. Kodak level incompetence.
Same reason why we hold the ritz carlton to a higher standard than a hilton
It’s because fingers are rounded and not square.
Apple spends billions on not only the sensor but also tight integration with hardware and image processing. Even if cars use the same sensors (we’re assuming they can survive the cars operating range here), you still need a lot of hardware and integration to get close to what apple has.
Remember that modern phones with some of the most power efficient processors still overheat when recording 4k in the sun, so imagine that processor but less efficient inside a car and think about what happens then.
