My storage doesn’t randomly disconnect, but frequently (and randomly) when I open saved files, three to six other files open alongside it for whatever reason and that can get a bit overwhelming and for sure bogs everything down.

Very helpful for making diverse connections between the files (how my OS knows which files are related is beyond my comprehension), but way too much for daily use.

Ungh, unintended consequences are the worst.

At the end of the day I want to patronize such a place (a phrasing I have not used since I was 13 and my mother made fun of my word choice because of alternate, more common, meanings), but not run one.

Man I’m jealous as hell. I have a small head so I weak kids sunglasses (specifically spider man at the moment, because they are sort of like 10-year-old-boy size with nothing printed on the lense, and girl glasses for that age fuckin suck) but I would love to rock kids shoes too!

As a fellow autist, but also a cis woman person, I think there’s a genuine and clear difference between the two, but… I viscerally understand infodumps when the other person already knows…

You gas yourself up so much to share the thing and they are like… mmhmm. Deflation city. And it’s hard to stop yourself from sharing your own personal understanding of things with people, even if they can correct you, which you hope they will do if you are wrong, omg that would be amazing!

That contrasts so hard with the condescending “I know more than you” attitude. Because the things those dipshits pick to harp on are usually the more superficial aspects of the thing.

Like that’s nice, I’m glad you know the specific term for the thing, genuinely, now let’s proceed from our mutual understanding and iron out the details together!

But that’s really different from someone who talks over you, is wrong, won’t be proven wrong, don’t care or know all that much (like dunning kruger sort of thing)

This is how I am when I don’t have anything to really talk about. Just show you I care sort of thing.

The best part is when your energy starts high and pleasant, and then cycles through all of the rest of those before landing on emotionally dysfunctional toddler because it’s gotten too much.

The experience is completely different, as well.

Professional drivers know where they are going, best routes to get there depending on time of day, and are willing to talk to you about the area and offer tips. Plus they are held to much higher driving standards than Uber/lyft drivers, who are literally just some random person.

There’s an episode of red dwarf that centers on that. They accidentally save him from being shot and the entire country falls apart because all his business comes out.

The good news is with all the small plastic bits floating around the environment, it’s only a matter of time until something evolves to decompose it. Tons and tons of surface area in a wide variety of environments and exposed to a wide variety of microorganisms. I mean heck even our anaerobic gut microbes are getting a chance! And plastic is basically just energy in solid form, so it’ll happen sooner or later.

The bad news is if that happens while we still use plastics, we are going to have a bad time with it.

We probably won’t even know it’s happening until it’s spread far and wide.

Personally, as a child-free person, if someone I was interested in wanted bio kids, I’d immediately stop being interested because that’s not something you can compromise on. It’s a fundamental incompatibility, imho.

It sounds like you aren’t really hurting for options, so, you know… probably not worth the effort.

I didn’t read the post and took longer than it should have to realize that the bottom half-ish are non-Roman. (Numbers are Arabic! So half!)

I wish I had the patience to make my bases actually look decent, and lay them out well for efficiency. Instead I end up with dozens of people (I had 85 at one point) and just madly try to accommodate all of them by settling the -entire- base map 😅

And then I give up because of overwhelming lag (don’t really have a gaming pc) and start over.

I really hope what they mean is clean water.

It can happen; there’s a paper mill by me that was actually an important part of the river cleanup process when the river was far worse than it is today. It takes water from the river, uses it for their needs, then treats it and returns it to the river far far cleaner than they took it out, which has been a net benefit for the entire downstream river ecosystem. That plan, and their follow-through, is the only reason that mill exists at all.

Thing is, where are they going to find this not-particularly-clean water to treat and return? Are they going to need all new infrastructure built to accommodate this?

And why is that cheaper/easier/whatever than just making a closed loop cooling system, which they could have done from the being…

Many of us are honestly equally confused by the idea of always/frequently being horny, which I hear is the case for many many men (probably also a lot of women but you rarely hear about it). I legitimately cannot imagine it. I’ve never felt whatever that feels like, as far as I know.

I know of a swamp that’s kinda sorta nearby, but like people constantly joke about dumping bodies there so it wouldn’t be a good spot.
