I didn’t even know I was circumcised at birth until like halfway through highschool and I didn’t really care after finding out. And having now seen penises that are uncircumcised, I’m kinda glad I was. From my perspective, it didn’t hurt and I didn’t even know until 17ish years later. Everything works perfectly normally.
All of that was a buildup to a genuine question of why do you feel so upset by it? I don’t mean to be argumentative or dismissive, just want to see the point of view from someone else

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Stuck between living in America, China, or Japan... Which would you choose?
1·23 days agoYour analysis is ridiculous, incorrect and dangerous to OP. ICE are still active and still abducting people. They kidnapped a woman in front of her children after she passed the security checkpoint in the airport just hours after being placed there the first time. Plus, like I said before, a lawyer and paperwork MIGHT get you back out of the detention center after a few weeks, IF they decide to let you out and not just say they lost you, or ignore the order anyway. Everything in between those two times is totally up to the agents in how they want to treat you. You’re an idiot and have no place offering advice to anyone considering moving to this country

2·24 days agoOkay, so I don’t understand the point of this response, still. It’s obvious that OP is deciding on a country to move to, considering that was the entire premise of this thread. You said paperwork will protect OP from ICE, misleading OP. I corrected that. My response was also with OP in mind, considering he is not as experienced with American life as an American is. Your appreciation of my contributions does not matter. What point are you trying to make right now?

1·24 days agoSure it’s a slippery slope, but it’s also exactly how corporations and governments have been behaving and there’s hundreds of examples of it. You’re being intentionally dense if you don’t believe that.

2·25 days agoOkay, and? I’m talking about the USA, specifically. The person above me implied keeping your paperwork in order will protect you from ICE, and I said that was false. I was not talking about China, nor Japan

3·25 days agoUnfortunately, having paperwork in order does not protect you from ICE. They do not care about the law and will abduct you as you are walking into/out of any immigration hearings. They routinely ignore judge’s orders to release people and have no accountability for any harm or damage they cause. Sure, you might get yourself out in a week or two IF you have a good lawyer, but not before they do whatever they want to you in the meantime

71·25 days agoWhat is your purpose here? All you’ve done is argue with people who warn you to not come to the USA. You’ve been told several times that it is not only dangerous to foreigners, but also to actual natural born citizens, the schools are currently fighting against an anti-intellectualism take over, banning subjects and books that don’t align with Christian beliefs and arresting students that say killing people is wrong. ICE is patrolling airports (where you would come into the country) and arresting anyone who is just a little too dark or just that they feel like arresting. It is not only unsafe for you to come here, it is a bad idea to come here for the academia as well.
All of this you have been ignoring and downplaying and arguing with. If you’re so sure it’s a good idea, then sure, come to the States and pray you don’t get blackbagged and never seen again. It feels like you’re not here to get honest opinions, but just to argue and ignore anything you don’t like

3·26 days agoWhile I agree moving to the US right now is extremely stupid and dangerous, ESPECIALLY while ICE is bored and prowling our airports and OP seems to be absolutely unaware of the world around them to a dangerous degree, I have to ask:
Are you THE Poem_for_your_sprog and why aren’t your posts in wonderful, whimsical poem form???

Linux@lemmy.ml•On the unfortunate need for an "age verification" API for legal compliance reasons in some U.S. states
1·28 days agoYeah, once everyone gets comfortable with being asked their age, then it’ll go to requiring a ‘realistic’ age instead of accepting someone born 1/1/1900, then it’ll move to requiring proof of your age

It’s (almost) lyrics from Make a Man Out of You, a song from Disney’s 1998 Mulan. The correct lyric is “With all the strength of a raging fire”

ShowerThoughts@sh.itjust.works•If a nazi walks into a bar and everyone else leaves, it becomes a nazi bar.
1·1 month agoIt seems you’re misinterpreting the ‘Nazi bar’ parable(? Metaphor? Whatever it is.)
It’s not intended that if a Nazi sits at your table you leave, it’s intended that you make the Nazi leave. You are correct though, that if a Nazi enters a bar and nobody makes it leave, then the bar is a Nazi bar. The only problem is that it already was if the owners are fine with the Nazi being there.

ShowerThoughts@sh.itjust.works•If a nazi walks into a bar and everyone else leaves, it becomes a nazi bar.
1·1 month agoSee, the problem is that there cannot be any ‘dialogue’ or ‘sharing space’ with a Nazi because a dialogue implies two way communication and sharing the space is implicit acceptance of their views. You cannot ask a cancer nicely to leave your body any more than you can discuss the pros and cons of racial superiority/inferiority or ethnic cleansing or any other Nazi talking points.
If you take in their arguments and listen and contemplate them, you’re no better than the Nazi. Nazis will not be tolerated longer than it takes to make it known they are not, and will never be, welcome.
