Almonds@mander.xyzto Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•What are some games with absolutely fantastic soundtracks?14·14 hours agoOri and the Blind Forest/ Will of the Wisps Still the only two games that I’ve sought out and added the music to my playlists, although Skyrim and LoZ songs tend to be covered by artists in my daily rotations
A lawn is generally easier to take care of than a collection of various plants and trees. First thing I do at any new home is plant a fuck ton of edible plants, and my neighbors always talk about not having the time or energy to do the same
Almonds@mander.xyzto Geography@mander.xyz•Why Virginia Beach Tried To Build A New $500M Downtown--Did It Work?English2·2 days agoWith the caveat that I haven’t been in VA Beach for fifteen years, I wonder why the military presence wasn’t mentioned? Especially if the ytuber is going to mention Norfolk. Those two cities aren’t large because of tourism, it’s the number of bases in the area. Did I play tourist and meander the boardwalk while I was stationed there? Yep. Just like the rest of my shipmates.
Ngl I stopped watching after 2.5minutes, partly because video essays are not my thing, but also I didn’t understand why skylines were brought up for various cities and not really connected to the main content by that point.
Medication is a privilege that many with ADHD can’t access. It also doesn’t work for everyone. Are those people not disabled?
Also, ADHD is more than struggling to focus, or to sit still. Many of us struggle to start tasks, manage money, keep things tidy, or manage time. These issues can cause so many problems in life, ranging from inability to hold a job to relationship issues. Once the medication wears off, these symptoms rise back to the surface; because ADHD medication isn’t a cure, it’s symptom management.
I always say eldritch blast like Falcon Punch in my head

Almonds@mander.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you were in a room with your own pet and 99 identical pets, how would you pick out your pet (aside from calling their name)?7·6 days agoMy boy cat has always given me very affectionate, but forceful, cuddles under my chin, especially when scared. Which reminds me that my old lady cat always buries her face in my elbow when she’s scared.
So, I’ll just have to pick up every cat and see who trusts me enough to use me as a blindfold lol
He can’t remember her name unless someone else says it first

Almonds@mander.xyztoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•don't trust cloud services with creative workEnglish13·4 days agoYeah, I understand why employers use it. Oddly, I used to work for Microsoft and can’t remember using OneDrive for our projects lol
But as a student I really prefer saving stuff locally and to a separate storage device. The university system has been hacked at least once since I’ve been a student, we all lost our credentials and were required to physically go to the campus to reset them. The university also revokes access three years after graduation.
Almonds@mander.xyztoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•don't trust cloud services with creative workEnglish551·7 days agoI’m in university (as an old) and just about everyone from faculty to staff has been pushing me to put everything in OneDrive. I know better, but young people tend to trust that an educational institution is looking out for them.
My freshman year I met teenagers who didn’t know what a flash drive is. Most of them have iPads with no storage, one of my classmates was just uploading all her lectures directly to YouTube so she could review them later.

I feel like some of these get very skewed depending on the person’s upbringing and personal traumas. I know an autistic person who is deeply dedicated/committed to their partner(who has a severe mental illness), at the expense of the wellbeing of their children. That’s not ethical or moral, but this person made vows to God and their partner, not to their children
Also “honest” is mentioned twice, and that’s definitely one of those things that gets skewed too lol
