  • I prefer the comments to the phantom downvoters. You can get some good dunks in on the former and there’s the chance someone stumbles across it and actually thinks for a few seconds. As far as how to respond to them, I don’t really want to dictate that. I think there is a place for a reasonable and rational response, a plus for dunks, and a place for pig memes.

I usually migrate from one to the next; I will engage in good faith at least to begin with. Doesn’t mean I think everyone should do the same if they don’t want to.

  • BYD has been growing in popularity in Japan since they launched the Atto 3 this year, which is a bit surprising given how protective we are about using Japanese cars normally. There are a couple new models scheduled to be released soon. They made a really clever decision to use a lot of local Japanese manufactures for parts and molds, so local Japanese suppliers were a lot more receptive to them. People are lot more likely to look at your company favorably when you give locals jobs. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were making a push to other markets including the US soon.

The US will probably try to block it by saying that they scan your brain as you drive and send to the data to the “evil ccp”.

EDIT: I am personally looking at the Atto3 as my next car, as I moved somewhere where I probably need one. I am taking one for a test drive next week actually.

  • While I don’t think we have quite reached that point yet, I do know that the vast majority of all world sanctions are imposed by the United States. It is close to 100% if you include sanctions imposed at the request of the United States.

Currently large swaths of Asia and Africa and a smattering in the Americas. A lot of those are against individuals rather than the country broadly, but it often has the same effect.

  • Curtailing aid to Ukraine will only prolong the war, Mr Zelensky argues.

Without foreign military aid, how would Ukraine be able to prolong the conflict? An army with no weapons and rapidly dwindling manpower is hardly an army, they’d be forced to sue for peace.

Imagine begging for billions of dollars in aid and then threatening to somehow activate sleeper refugees as terrorists if countries don’t comply. Would the refugees even listen, surely the vast majority of people fleeing the country aren’t the nationalistic type. Otherwise they’d have been running in the other direction.
