I haven’t looked very deeply but every article or review I’ve read touts the advantages of routers that work with “a variety of VPN services”.
No no no. How about a router where you simply type in the DDNS name of the “other” router, select TAP or TUN, and poof.
Maybe another radio button to indicate whether traffic not meant for your remote subnet geos straight to the Internet or is routed through your remote subnet.
And of course having skills to deal with DDNS providers would be nice too.
OK OK: maybe some care would be needed to ensure no DHCP collisions should they become disconnected for some time. But that should have a reasonable default as well, splitting your subnet into a top and bottom half seems reasonable.
