Hello, I’m moving into a new apartment in a couple weeks and although it is a great upgrade over my previous apartment, the internet hookup is in the corner of the house, basically in the kitchen. There is no ethernet (or coax) wired to any part of the house, and I’m not allowed to install my own wires. There’s no good place to hide a wire running to another room either. The apartment is just under 1000sqft.
I’m looking for a powerful router/ap combo (I’d love to get a set of AP’s one day but this is not that day) so that I can mount it on the wall directly above the Google Fiber hookup with no other clutter needed besides the wall-wart power adapter. Any recommendations? My wife doesn’t love the aesthetic of a router with lots of antennas sticking out so anything that looks clean when wall mounted would be preferable. Something like the TP-Link EAP225 but as a router instead of just an access point.
Also we’re not allowed to put holes in the walls so it would have to be flush with the wall so that I can mount it with command strips (terrible, I know). This means anything with an eternal screw-in wall-mount adapter wouldn’t work.
