Dobrý den!

I want to start off by saying - this is our first time navigating the visa process or living abroad. If this situation seems dumb, I do apologize, but at the same time I am learning as I go and trying to be as proactive as possible.

Currently panicking a bit. We submitted our applications for student visas on June 14th and was told it would take up to 60 days (Aug 13). Before anyone says we should have applied sooner, our program didn’t send the required paperwork until the 2nd week of June - and I scheduled an appointment with our consulate immediately. I too would have loved to have applied sooner.

Our program starts on Aug 28th and our flight is on Aug 22nd.

I have read throughout this group and everything I’ve seen - it takes 3-4 months. Which would be between Sept. 14 and Oct. 14.

I’m not really sure what we should do. We are leaning towards picking up our passports and going, once the visas are approved, flying back home and then flying back to the Czech Republic. Obviously this is costly, but I don’t know if waiting for approval makes sense either because who knows when that could be? I believe we can stay for up to 90 days… will this “waiting for visa” cause any issues? Don’t we have to report our arrival to the police, and when we do that won’t they know we don’t have visas yet? Also, if our purpose of stay had already started before the visa is approved - isn’t that grounds for denial?

I’m unsure. Very stressed and could use some advice.
