I know winter isn’t over yet. I’ve been enjoying some of the warmer August days here in Newcastle, even adjourning to the garden late afternoon to toast the going down of the sun.

I’m watching my 4 new kangaroo paws in the garden starting to take off, 2 large and 2 small. I’m hoping that by summer they will carpet the spaces between B1 and B2, the bottlebrush trees. They’re also starting to show new buds on the ends of the branches. Too cool yet for flowering (pic was taken Oct 2018 lol) but soon, my precious ones, soon.

I was dealing with tradescantia (wandering jew, in the vernacular) and oxalis in the garden and blanketed it with cardboard for several weeks. I’m still winning that battle. There may have been glyphosate involved. I was desperate to contain it.
