I use Google tasks for my todo list. This GNOME extension is nice and minimal and just what I’m looking for, and it uses todo.txt. Is there an easy way to sync my changes with Google, similar to how the GNOME calendar app does?
EDIT: Endeavor (GNOME “To do”) seamlessly integrates with Google Tasks and ostensibly todo.txt but I can’t get it to recognize the todo.txt (I’m not sure it would sync todo.txt > Endeavor > Tasks even if it was working, however).
Believe it or not, I had a similar question just today.
However, what I want is to add tasks to todo.txt and somehow see them in my calendar (as events or as a task list, my calendar app supports task lists as well as calendars). I was thinking of a way to turn my tasks from todo.txt to calendar events or something and I guess a script on a server (I have a server and use it to sync stuff like notes and files) could watch for changes, parse them and add servers to Google calendar.
Anyway, it’s a slightly different question, and I can’t answer your question.
Maybe there’s a python library to work with Google keep notes, and you too could sync your todo.txt with your server (using syncthing) and watch file for changes, parse them and send them to Google keep using some API. I’m not sure if it’s possible but you could try searching in that direction.

If that extension allows saving to a directory and Google somehow supports todo txt and also sync from folder then yes.

Linux is not a prerequisite nor is it a required side effect of digital privacy, sure the two go hand-in-hand thanks to FOSS but you can have one without the other.

Well. Linus Torvalds himself is or was using Google Gmail, and with the popularity and dependency on smart phones it is not that surprising to see lots of Linux maintainers and developers use Google products. Heck, the famous Ken Thompson even works for Google.

I prefer not to sync my information with Google or other entities either, but do not think that using Linux precludes using whatever tools they like. I don’t think this is a question about ideals, but about tools and compatibility.
I personally also doubt that Google Tasks supports that capability, unfortunately. I personally use Thuderbird for email on Linux, and it supports tasks too (I use Nextcloud for my tasks but I bet it supports Google as well). Not the same as your gnome extension, but an option.
