OK, he probably won’t answer the question since I don’t use patreon so I’m also posting it here:
Hello Andreas, So I want to store my seed-phrase online so when the economy collapses and I’m walking to El Salvador I will be able to recover my Bitcoins by downloading my seed phrase. Yes, I know, TERRIBLE idea.
HOWEVER, what if I randomly swap two words of my 24 word seed phrase? Then I only need to remember which words I swapped. So, A potential hacker could assume they have the correct words and I’ve mixed them, but they would not know anything else other than the checksum word would be wrong. According to GPT that’s going to take about 10,000 years to brute force.
They would also need to brute force my passphrase which is my stored in my head. Please explain why this is a bad idea!
And If you think it is a bad idea, how do you plan to transport your seed for a flight, crossing a border, etc.? There is a greater than zero chance it will be confiscated, especially once adoption heats up and the overlords get serious about keeping their wealth and power. If your seed phrase is confiscated or lost could you still recover your coins?
I trust myself NOT to be able to remember 24 words for any length of time.
