Hello all, I’m in the process of building up a “Hi-Fi” setup using 80s-90s components, for nostalgia’s sake. I’m starting off on a budget, and have procured a beautiful reconditioned set of CV RE-30s for fronts, and have an Adcom GFA-545II on the way - and possibly a Kenwood Basic M1D as well (also looking for a M2A).
What I’m torn on is the preamp. I’m looking at Adcom, but have read they don’t have the best sound. When I test drove the CVs, he was using an old SAE TWO PA10 driving a Kenwood M1D amp. The sound and clarity, for CVs, was amazing. I loved it.
Any input would be appreciated. The end goal is to have clear sound with rich bass from a preamp that will work well with CD, PC, and vinyl inputs.
