I know this sounds strange. This could be totally innocent, but I’m bringing it to people’s attention.

Whenever I use new software from Github I try to learn a bit about the coders.

In the case of Memmy, according to Github, it’s Gavin Kasdorf.

When I signed up for the IOS Testflight it said that the creator was Gavin Casdorph. Strange, I thought and looked up that name. That’s what led me to this Anchorage Daily News article and one from the Philadelphia Inquirer An Alaska man who threatened to detonate bombs at Lafayette College in 2018, and pledged allegiance to ISIS. It’s not a common name so seemed strange

When the app was finally released on iTunes it contained the name Gavin Casdorph, again, in the listing (check on the cached Google results page).

But now when you check the iTunes Gavin’s name is gone, and it’s listed as Culivio LLC. Are they trying to hide something?

This all seems suspicious, and before I trust the app I was wondering if anyone knew the real story behind this. Is this the same person? Why the differing names in the Itunes store and on Github?

Let’s not make up things on a new account to damage Gavin’s reputation. He’s an awesome dude, and i don’t recall anything ever saying Gavin Casdorph. We had to make the app under an LLC so that i could get apple developer permissions like publishing to test flight, etc.

You made your account an hour ago, not sure what your agenda is but this is pretty sad conspiracy stuff.

I’m a bit skeptical myself of this post, but it is being truthful about the Gavin Casdorph name appearing. I know this because I checked to find contact information to send an email with feedback, and I saw that name listed there and had trouble figuring out if it was a typo or if I was sending an email to the right place.

I’m not saying that OP is correct or that I believe the post yet, but that name part is entirely truthful and it’s definitely changed since then seeing the app details on Testflight.

Well I’ll let Gavin weigh in on that though i assume it was a typo lol. Either way this is a totally ridiculous theory since this dude would be in prison now.

FWIW, the app developer name did used to be “Gavin Casdorph”, and now it is “Culivio LLC”. Obviously the reason for the change is probably innocuous, but OP is not making that part up.

Firstly, it’s a bit suspicious that your name is only a few minutes old. Secondly, I hope you live in a society that understands innocent before proven guilty, because all you’re doing is insinuating to damage someone’s reputation.

You haven’t proven anything, that last name coincidence is nothing. These are different last names. You’re damaging an individual’s reputation without any substantial evidence.

I believe it often takes a while for some who is sentenced to be incarcerated. Appeals and all that. I would be less concerned if the names weren’t swapped.

I’m fairly certain that’s not the case. Once they’re convicted and sentence has been handed down, they have to report to prison. They can continue to appeal, but they have to do so from prison. Also, unless there’s legitimate reason the original ruling might be wrong (or they have enough money for good lawyers), appeals general go pretty quick for cases like this. They’re just checking to make sure there was no procedure breaks or new evidence.

        Appeals? Dude plead guilty.

And that was 3 years ago. I doubt this guy had the “Elizabeth Holmes keep me out for as long as possible” legal team. And Holmes bought months, not years, after the gavel came down.

What a horrible thing to say. I’m very disappointed in all the support this is getting. I’d be very hurt if this happened to me.

Ah yes… The “I’m not insinuating anything, I’m just asking questions” route of proliferating misinformation. I have a counter tin-foil hat argument for you. Are you Tucker Carlson?? He uses the same type of reactionary questioning techniques, so you must be him, right? Kinda sus if you ask me

Or, ya know, dude changed his name spelling so it doesn’t get conflated with some ISIS fucktard. That’s what I would do.

There is more than one guy with that name in the world. I see 3 or 4 in the US on my first 2 Google pages.

No. ISIS are right-wing reactionaries - not radical. Radical doesn’t mean what you think it means.
