I’ve seen a lot of differing opinions on this, especially on the host side of things (updates mainly) or that the router should always be bare metal.

At this point, I’m assuming people who say not to virtualise it haven’t tried to, shrug.

Anyhow,

Snapshots, Backups and just having a low power box would be great (opposed to the system I have now on bare metal).

I already have proxmox running on a machine with some services, all it needs is another NIC; which is on the way to experience this. Other than that I have a VM already set up, as per the guide, all I need to do is add the other NIC to the VM and it’ll be running

Would love to see some thoughts and experiences.

Edit: I do have pfsense running on bare metal as it is right now.
