One thing I’m noticing is that this community and the other one get a lot of questions about the Lemmy service itself, or the UI, or the underlying technology. Is this a problem, inevitable, or both?
Both :) but we can’t really complain, as there isn’t too much activity right now and most people are still learning

It happens with all types of products, we’re just reaching the point where it’s happening on social media products. It’s the same reason why shrinkflation is a thing.
When markets are young, and when products are new, you grow and profit by building the best thing you can. If you can build a great product and it takes off, things are good. But as markets mature and new user/buyer growth isn’t feasible anymore, the game changes to seeing just how much profit you can squeeze out of each buyer/user before they quit your product. So just like other products move to cheaper ingredients or components at the same price, social media companies need to provide the lowest quality product that still maintains revenue. They’re banking on people accepting the worse product.
Unfortunately what a lot of companies are finding out, social media isn’t as vital to people as they think it is. People are willing to walk away when pushed too far, which is what Twitter and Reddit are seeing now.
Here to help, I hope the shift goes well. Would love to see more people switching off r*ddit
I love seeing all the old subreddits showing up on Lemmy as new communities. I hope to see this community grow into an active community that is truly owned by the community!

Cool! I’ll add to the comments here, because I’ve got a meta question about Lemmy.
I hear there are different kinds of instances. I found .world by accident. My question is, do they all form some super conglomerate where all instances can see the others? Or do you have to, like, create a different username/pw for each one to view content in the other ones?
Is this Lemmy community contiguous with the Reddit sub?
The only things we have in common are the name and some of the format, and the users who left Reddit. :)
