I have a milk problem
Counting calories with a food scale is eye opening. That bit of milk in coffee was actually about 80ml on average and I guess on certain days I might have drank about 300ml in milk. I guess I will switch to drinking my coffee black now.
Overall I think I am someone who is drawn to milk, some people may have sugar cravings, for me it’s hard to resist milk. (Fermented dairy like yogurt or quark is totally different for me, it doesn’t trigger the same reactions).
Oat milk is great in coffee, about half the calories of regular milk to boot. And if you want to invest in some nicer coffee and a cheap hand grinder, black coffee can be very tasty on its own. Drinking Folgers black isn’t great imo. Go down the coffee rabbit hole and binge on James Hoffmans videos lol, you won’t regret it!
Oat milk doesn’t really work for me. Glad if it does for you ;-) I guess I will drink black coffee now. I received an AeroPress last week and while I always used good beans I ordered a selecton of premium beans from the webshop that I ordered the aeropress from.
Dude I fucking crave milk too. I actually found out it is heavily related to a kidney problem I have that limits my calcium intake. I go through a gallon of milk a week at least sometimes 2 and unfortunately whole milk hits the spot.
Black coffee slaps tho

The company Silk makes an excellent none dairy milk called “next milk”. It’s only 80cal per 250ml. It might be an option to explore. I’ve tried just about every non dairy milk and this one is by far the best.
Be careful with those products if you have diabetes or need to watch your blood sugar levels for other reasons. Many oat milk products claim to be a healthy alternative, and calorie-wise that might be true, but they contain a lot of maltose. The companies add amylase to their oat milk to convert the oat starch into maltose which serves the purpose that it sweetens the milk without having to add extra sugar. Maltose has a ridiculous glycemic index of 105, lactose has 46 for reference, which means that your blood sugar level will spike more than double than with an equivalent amount of lactose.
Yeah, non-dairy milk alternatives I did try. In away they are good as they don’t trigger the reaction I get with milk. But on the other hand since they don’t do that I can just as well drink my coffee black I think (and save these 80kcal altogether)
Hey OP, not to discourage making lifestyle changes or anything but 80 calories isn’t all that much. If you can manage to moderate your intake of milk, I think you’ll find it much more sustainable to lose weight and keep it off. It’s all about finding ways to change your relationship with food in a way that’s sustainable to you. If milk in your coffee is something that you enjoy, is there perhaps somewhere else you could cut that 80 calories? Don’t give up on all of the small pleasures in your life, sometimes those small things mean more than we realize and it can undermine your efforts to make long term adjustments
Yes, 80 kcal are not much, but many small amounts sum up quickly in my experience, and 80kcal in liquid calories are much less satisfying than more solid stuff on my plate.
Have you seen the brand FairLife? It’s still real cows milk but ultra filtered. The fat free is still rich and delicious unlike other brands. Lower sugar, higher protein, zero fat all with a great flavor makes it my go to.
Pussy.
I myself drink AT LEAST 2 cups of raw, unpasteurized milk daily. Fucking delicious. A healthy dose of milk is exactly what a man needs after a hard day’s work.
