The normalization of political violence, the dehumanization of the ‘enemy,’ and the use of stochastic terror. While these may sound like dystopian concepts from a sci-fi film, they are, unfortunately, the chilling reality of today’s political landscape. Strap in, because The Big Picture is delving deep into these unsettling tactics shaping our world. https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/trump-threats-violence-maga-2024

As usual, Trump is openly saying what he will do, in an attempt to immunize himself from liability for doing it. Accusing others of committing outrages and crimes is another way of doing that, and his admission that he’s done what he accuses others of doing. Both are attempts to normalize his foul conduct.

If anything, Trump understates the violence, discrimination, and retribution he has or will foment or engage in.

    Trump is useless.

Trump supporters are responsible for all the terror of the time we live in.

@georgetakei@universeodon.com I get the feeling that you have lived though this cycle before, and are not looking forward to doing it again.
    I concur.

How stupid do you have to be to idolize a top secret stealing and selling, diaper wearing, adderall addicted nincompoop sociopathic pathological liar with a history of fraud and bankruptcies indicted for 91 felonies despite a court system designed to protect the rich and powerful so shallow he won’t go anywhere without bronzer and his poorly fitting bacteria infested toupee.

@georgetakei@universeodon.com The rest of the world is looking on in disbelief and is totally perplex. The GOP, the party that was first in abolishing slavery, to then more or less giving up on that noble goal and leaving it to the Democrats, and now being led by the nose by Mr. Trump like a cow that doesn’t know any better!
    Really!

@georgetakei@universeodon.com There’s no going back to pre-Trump politics. We’re stuck with this paradigm in which decent people are shouted out of the political sphere through threats and intimidation.

@georgetakei@universeodon.com The administrations of Donald Trump and Ted Bundy would have been roughly identical.

@georgetakei@universeodon.com the world will need commentators like them. So long as they do not provoke precisely the martyrs support the terrible people are supporting.
