I get that community engagement is good and all, but some of these posts and comments seem of questionable quality. Is this person a bot?
Some people latch onto social media really hard, like up to and including addiction
And if you’re desperate enough for interacting with people then posting a lot can get that
They aren’t a bot, they seem like someone a bit stupid who just posts literally whatever springs into their head with no inhibitions.
I’ve considered blocking them, but occasionally their posts on asklemmy prompt some decent discussion. I just wish they would learn to filter their thoughts a bit.
Bots aren’t this weird. They seem more like an attention seeker to me, like main character syndrome or something.
Super annoying and I can’t block them because I have to see if they break rules in communities I mod.
You can still see reports for people you’ve blocked.
Oo really? That is great to know. I can finally start blocking some people.
You’ll need to unblock the account to moderate it, but you can see the report itself even through a block
Some mods might use alt accounts as their daily due to that CVE with custom emojis early on that allowed admin accounts to get hijacked
If they’re spamming posts into your communities that sounds like a rule breaking thing in general to me
Also I’m surprised that more people don’t have an alt account for moderating and then use a different account for other stuff
They’re not, I have never seen them post in communities I mod. Guess those communities are not of interest for them. I browse all a lot and see them in other places.
Yea! #STOPBOTHATE
You guys are so mean hahahahahaha
They’re just adderall fueled posts and this is their outlet.
I hope they learn how to manage the ADHD so they can feel more comfortable with themselves. I know for me it helped a lot to interact online with strangers as to not burn the fuck out of the people I interact with daily. Lemmy is small enough for people to take notice of multiple posts.
Keep posting cheese man, gives me something to read and text with y’all about.
Yeah, I got the ADHD kinda impression too, and that’s something I live with too, not always knowing how to express myself and say the right things.
It feels like everyone else in the world are a different species, and I’m just trying to figure out how to best communicate with them in their language, you know?
I’m certain I come across as odd or weird, often, haha. But I’m trying not to be an ADHD recluse that hides from society instead of trying to embrace it, you know?
You got this! But I totally know how you feel.
Every interaction that is neutral is taken as me not being interested enough. Every interaction that is met with excitement is taken as me being way too over the top interested.
ADHD is about finding that sweet balance and applying it to life. It just sucks that it’s always a constant chore rather than something we just get used to.
I like to post here way too much because I found out people in my field don’t really like to talk about the science lmfao, more of a “you just have to know it” type of vibe and I love getting deep into the “why”
Is it bad for me to do this? Maybe. It’s not really experience gained for later on since it’s not directly gained from someone in my field. But it sure helps me understand how I can communicate ideas in a meaningful way rather than just blurt out the word cloud in my head.
Social media… ah
i find it hilarious how people with “adhd” always end up in narcotics anonimous after a few years
I don’t see how that’s hilarious, unless you’re an asshole. (Which, looking at your other comments, you seem to be.)
Also, there have been multiple incidents of supply shortages for the prescription medications that ADHD people tend to need. Being without their required medications can cause some people to make bad decisions, or to self medicate in other ways. None of that is their fault, and it’s not fucking “hilarious” in any way.
Awe no, that’s a pretty sad generalization :(
It has been found through research that people with ADHD end up in negative situations when they don’t take their medication: addiction, crime, depression, death.
I’m gonna go find that article for you.
But aside from that, yeah I think it’s pretty crazy that it’s treated with stimulants. A small percentage of people cant tolerate them and it makes things worse.
It’s all about communication with your psychiatrist.

I’m sorry you feel this way. I’m gonna generalize quite a bit to help explain.
In regard to stimulants, they can help those that cannot do. ADHD brains are wired a bit differently and so in this case the brain could actually do with a little more stimulation. Addiction is always possible in situations where abuse is prevalent. But just think of it as kicking a ball that’s standing still. It takes more work to get it into the goal.
The reason they’re “bad” in “normal” people is because the brain is already functioning at its best. Adding stimulation here is a fast path to addiction because you’re adding stimulation that is not needed, therefore forming a dependency as the brain will think it needs to make less of its own chemicals. Here you can think of addiction as a ball that is already in motion that gets passed to the kicker and canon kicked into the goal. Here there is less work being done to get that addiction potential going.
People always assume it’s fun to be on these meds. To be honest a lot of people say they suck the absolute life out of you. I personally hate taking them, I haven’t for 6+ months. But it’s quite necessary for us to focus and get shit done.
edit: personally they’re life changing as it showed me a view on life that I had never experienced. Things were flowing as they should. No hiccups or setbacks. Eventually you get used to that new life and can taper down as you grow older.
You could just block them instead of making a post to bully them.
Why don’t you ask them instead of trying to sew stochastic hatred their way?
I’m not trying to be derogatory, but the person seems to be autistic. Im not a doctor or anything but the constant posting on specific topics and a few things theyve said about themselves in comments reminds me of a few autistic people i know IRL who i also have added on social media. I moderated a few larger subreddits when I used the site and had a few “regulars” with the same posting pattern
They are ND in some form for sure. But IMO that’s not an excuse for having zero internet forum etiquette. Especially for someone so terminally online. I’m ND too (AuDHD) and also spend a lot of time on forums, but I’ve made a point to learn the social contract on these sorts of platforms so as not to annoy other users.
Etiquette is weird and plastic. Fuck it. Go au naturel and stress-free.
It’s big ADHD for me
I’ve blocked another account that wasn’t a bot, but was just really… awkward and spammy.
I don’t think I should be recognizing usernames across communities like this. It’s probably a bad sign for them if I do.
I’ll keep an eye out for the one you mentioned

Except for Stamets and ThePicardManeuver
Those guys post some good shit
He still posts? He is blocked for me.
Same.
